About Me

To see the world and find my place in it.

I tried the corporate thing for a couple years after graduating from college. I started traveling on a whim, found it to be much more rewarding than sitting in a cubicle all day, and have been at it ever since.

I know it's a cliche on here, but seriously, I might be the most easy-going, open-minded person you'll ever meet. I have no expectations, so I'm never disappointed. And, I've never had a bad experience (since things aren't good or bad, they just are - though, don't take that as a challenge :). I'm definitely an introvert, but get me comfortable and give me time, and I'll come around.

I generally travel alone and without any kind of plan. I have no responsibilities at the moment, so I just go with the flow. I think I travel mostly for the adventure of it and to discover new things.

I like to spend time with my hosts, but I'm quite capable of taking care of myself if they're busy. I require zero comfort - I mostly just need a place where bums won't pee on my stuff. And, I don't mind surfing with other people - in fact, I enjoy it.

Emptiness and Empathy

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

If you need any sort of travel advice, I'm your guy!

I'm also Couchsurfing's biggest advocate. If I meet someone that isn't already on board the CS train, they get the sermon :).

And, I'm trying to beta test the site.

I've found the best way to experience a new place is with someone from there who knows all the best things about it. Please don't ask what I want; I didn't travel thousands of miles from my home to do what I want if you know what I mean. If there's something I have on my mind, don't worry, I'll let you know.

I enjoy sports, reading things that make me think, playing games (board, computer, console, poker, etc.), and pretty much anything and everything else. As a rule, I'll try anything once (as long as you do it first ;).

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy it all. But, if I had to pick favorites, off the top of my head, I'd say Cake for the band and Fight Club for the movie. Books are for nerds. Just kidding - I'm pretty into Game of Thrones at the moment...hmm, maybe books are for nerds. Why aren't video games included in their list? That's racist.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I learned how to play Finnish Baseball in Finland and got to play in a game - and we won!
