About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To Lydia, Lydia, Lydia all over the place!

ABOUT ME

Well, here I am. Lydia G. Brown. The G stands for Grace. I used to have zero grace, so my name was ironic. But Grace is a learned thing, and after 9 years of dance lessons, I can walk in a straight line (if I want to).

Other things about me: I love to laugh. I let spiders outside instead of squishing them. I have a fat cat by the name of Kingsley Nedward Brown. A favorite pastime: staring at the ceiling and listening to music. Preferably drinking coffee. I love coffee shops in general; vibrantly colored ones where you can sit in the sun and write. I love writing. I like to drive down the highway with the windows down. Or jump in fountains. Or anything that pinches my toes and makes me feel more real.

PHILOSOPHY

Wowsy, this is getting deep n' shit. Sooooo... My personal philosophy... is... to... listen to my gut. No matter how hard it is. And sometimes, it's hard. But always worth it. Life is not to be clung to or taken so seriously. It's to be followed and lived vibrantly. This is the adventure you have.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Hosting as many lovely folks as possible, surfing, and meeting people with similar interests :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was too afraid to couchsurf when I was doing a lot of traveling a couple years ago. Then, I met this awesome girl on a train. She said she'd traveled the whole Middle East doing nothing but couch surfing and hitch hiking. She believed in the goodness of 99.9% of humankind. I want to have more stories like hers (and believe in humankind more). So here I am! So far, my experiences have been very positive!!

Interests

Writing, reading, yoga, painting, singing, coffee, sushi, dancing, mountain biking, road biking, climbing, orienteering, hiking, traveling, backpacking, good-people-ing, concerting, chap-sticking, cuddle kitty-ing.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like to read about different religions. I'm kind of fascinated by different belief systems. Music... Iron and Wine, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Sufjan Stevens, Regina Specktor, The Decemberists... etc... Movies... The Life Aquatic, Burn After Reading, The Red Violin, The Prestige, Little Miss Sunshine... And many more I can't think of right now. I like dark, quirky, smart humor. Farting and hitting yourself in the nuts is only funny for so long!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think my favorite was the hike to Machu Picchu. Wow. Every day... every few hours was a different kind of beauty. I was awe-struck and humbled by our planet.

Teach, Learn, Share

Let's see... What could I teach you... Yoga! Or, anything about speech therapy!!!!! WHoooo hooo!!! Or, any of my interests... we could paint together, do some funny writing/drawing, I could weed your garden haha...

I am open to learning... just about anything. I'm a curious person.
