Über mich

CURRENT MISSION

Finding a way to make my work beneficial and rewarding for myself and others.

ABOUT ME

I find that I can talk to most anybody. I go out of my way to help, if I can.

My wife and I are dog people - we have a goofy old foxhound named Sendak (after Maurice) and a big fluffy Newfie named Bonnie. Also we have four hens (Tina Fey, Constantine the Demon Slayer, Poe [Edgar A], and Phoenix) that give us more eggs than we know what to do with.

We enjoy cooking and good music, and find ourselves seeking those out most weekends.

Often I'm in about three places at once.

I like beer (making and brewing), I like music (making and consuming), exploring cities, and meeting people.

PHILOSOPHY

We're all in this together, right?

I try to see the good in people. For the most part I succeed.

I try to share my time and talents as best I can.

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Planning the next trip, wherever that might be. Always love meeting new people and making a safe home available.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Had a few folks stay at my flat in Philadelphia - had a great time! Showed them the neighborhood, went out to a couple music shows, shared the fun things.

Had a week-long stay myself in Seattle, and was hosted by some really lovely people

Interessen

I'm an engineer by profession, but at heart I'm an artist. I'm a musician and a photographer. I brew my own beer. I cook and sing and tinker. I love meeting new people and find ways to help out as best I can.

I'm trying to find ways to make my career more fulfilling for my life, and vice-versa. Engineering is one of those fields that can change the world -- for better or worse. I want to use it to better the world. I believe that we, as a human species, are all in this together, and those of us who can help have a moral duty to do so.

Other random things I enjoy: snowboarding, cycling, yoga, collecting musical instruments, coffee, lame jokes, potlucks, marching bands, college (American) football

Musik, Filme und Bücher

Music! Uh... so much. Muse, Fleet Foxes, Sharon Van Etten, Avett Brothers, Dawes, REM, Regina Spektor...

Books: Lately, I've been reading Inside of a Dog (it's great for understanding what your puppy is thinking).

Lehren, lernen, teilen

I can brew beer. I could teach you to do that.
I've started roasting coffee. I only have a slight idea of what I'm doing.
Also I play guitar. We could learn some songs together!
I enjoy working on my car (Miata!) and tinkering with electical and mechanical things.

Was ich mit Gastgebern teilen kann

If I have any at the time, I can bring some homebrew beer (usually decent) or some roasted coffee (it's... getting there).
I can fix things, so if you've got something broken...

If nothing else, I'm an enthusiastic motivator to get out of the house in a new town. I have found that I explored my own city much more when hosting people, which is what makes it so fun.
