我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing is a great way to meet the local people of the area where you're travelling. At my house we have hosted a lot of couchsurfers and it's cool to get to know people from different cultures and share opinions about how you look at the world.

And as a journalist, that is definitely essential. If I go somewhere, I want to talk to real people, how they experience living in their country. I can read it in the newspaper, or hear it from some government official, or someone from the university - but that's something entirely different than hearing it from you.

Favorite music, this is always a hard one. I don't wanna be that guy who says that he listens to everything, but I really do like a lot of music. From jazz to rap and from eighties hardcore punk to italian disco and from mongolian throat singing to obscure japanese lofi techno.

Movies, I can really enjoy the movies that are not EXPLOSIONS AND BOOBS in Hollywood, you know. But a while ago I went to the cinema to see some art-house movie and then I fell asleep and the cleaning lady woke me up after the movie stopped. So there's that. Luckily there's a whole world between those two things.

Books, yeah. I used to read a lot of fiction, a lot of American classics. Favorites there are definitely Slaughterhouse 5 from Kurt Vonnegut, On the road by Jack Kerouac and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas by H.S. Thompson. Nowadays I read a lot more non-fiction.
