About Me

Just another traveller always looking for random spontaneous adventures with great people!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I really like the concept, it makes sense as a way to connect with real people and immerse oneself a little more in the local culture.

Haven't had an opportunity to host yet myself due to lack of couch, but I now have the space and plan on hosting some travellers to Umeå!

Interests

I have just moved to Umeå, Sweden! Im a scientist but Music is definitely a passion of mine, and I intend on pursuing it a lot more in the near future - I would like to learn more instruments for starters! Growing up in New Zealand, I've been privileged to live near some amazing scenery and wilderness; I really enjoy hiking, swimming, Frisbee golf and mountain biking. I also enjoy cooking and preparing food! Best served with a few drinks and a few good friends. I am very open minded and will try (almost) anything once - you never know what's going to catch your attention.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a huge sci-fi nerd. Philip K. Dick, Arthur C. Clarke, Robert Henlein etc. and the movies to go with them. Also grew up reading a lot of horror e.g. H.P. Lovecraft, Stephen King etc. Music-wise I love heavy metal - especially the progressive side of it - and I'm keen to see festivals in Europe if I can. Between the Buried and Me, Protest the Hero, Tesseract, Opeth, Karnivool, Meshuggah, etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once met some completely random local dudes at (what I'm pretty sure is the ONLY) backpackers in St. Louis, MO. Spent the night hanging with them at a jam-packed hardcore punk show in the basement of some condemned party house out in the suburbs. Didn't know a damn soul but had a great night anyway!

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to teach people music! I considered it a career but its much better as a hobby I think . I've played guitar for over half my life so I would like to share that knowledge if I can.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Not a lot, materially speaking...I guess my great sense of humour, quality yarns and genuine human compassion will have to do ;-)

Countries I’ve Visited
