ABOUT ME

My name is Tim, and I'm Canadian and American and now I live and work in Kirishima, Japan with my wife Kazuko and son Sean. I've lived in various parts of Canada, and most recently in New York City. My travels include trips around Canada and the US, a few trips to Europe, a trip I don't remember when I was a kid to Trinidad and Tobago, and vacations to Taiwan,Thailand, Austalia, and New Zealand. I'm very excited about meeting new people - to hang out, have a coffee, hike or have dinner or something like that. Let's have a good time together!

PHILOSOPHY

I believe in trying to keep an open mind about things and always try to look ahead in life and not look back. It's never too late to try new things and take your life in a new direction. I often get inspiration for new things in my life by meeting new people!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Hi, I've enjoyed meeting up with travelers from Germany, Singapore, and China so far and I am interested in meeting more people. Please note that I have a little baby boy right now, so I'm not able to host right now.

I enjoy doing a lot of things (coffee shops, hiking, yoga, reading, playing ukulele, looking at historic sites, going to museums, shops, hanging out, driving, seeing a band, or just talking etc....).

I write and play my own songs on tenor and baritone ukuleles and sometimes play at a local music club.

When I have time to read books, I'm a bit of sucker for science fiction or fantasy, but enjoy a good fiction novel once and a while...

Suddenly training to be a modern/ballet dancer at university. Shocked my family! But, it was all good in the end!

Working on an archaeology dig, and being asked by the Ontario Provincial Police to help excavate a 5 year-old murder crime scene to help them recover the victim's skeleton...

Working for a community paper as a free-lance reporter, and meeting some awesome people who are still my close friends to this day...

Teaching ESL to students with mentally disabilities in New York City...

Passing the incredibly challenging and arduous Japanese driver's test!

I guess as far as life goes - everyone will have their share of disappointments, and in the end it is only you who can get yourself up and keep going. Don't let your life be held back by self-doubt or bad feelings. Something great is always around the next corner!
