About Me

CURRENT MISSION
I'm working on a history podcast, and many other projects.

ABOUT ME

I'm a graduate of St. John's college, and a resident of Annapolis. I love taking on projects, and now I am blessed to have a partner who helps me to actually finish them. I cook and sew and make things out of leather, and also take on social policy in my town. Life is interesting.

PHILOSOPHY

Philosophy is derived from the greek: Philos is love, and Sophia is wisdom. I do, in fact, love wisdom. I love wisdom from afar, like a knight in the tradition of Don Quixote, always courting my love but never winning her. I will go on almost any quest to please my love, not to win her but just to come a step closer. The first person to use the word philosophy was Socrates, when he described himself, and he said "the only thing which I know is that I know nothing." I am not so humble as he, I know a few things, but knowing a few things is not the same as being wise.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love to have conversations with people, on all sorts of topics. I have a huge memory of references, and I am always looking to learn more viewpoints. I also cook.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have crashed at the houses of friends of my parents, or places owned by similarly recommended people, and couch surfed one time. I have hosted several people. I love interesting people and fun company.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love any music where the composer really used their brain. Classical, thoughtfully written Metal, Folk, Jazz, just make it interesting and meaningful.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a dilettante at craft skills. If you know how to make something, then I want to learn the basics. I will probably get bored before I get to the advanced techniques, at least this time around. Sometime in the future I will likely take the skill up again and seek real facility. I have a fairly large catalog of basic skills that I have picked up this way, but if you want to learn past getting started I am not your man, except in Massage. That was my profession for a while. That I can teach with confidence.

I also love history. If you can fill in my picture any, then I can listen to you for hours. If you are interested in hearing my take on some section of the human story, then wind my key and settle in for a tale.
