Working here in Kalaupapa is a calling for me. It is where I am supposed to be at this point in my life.
Also be aware that Kalaupapa is NOT on Maui but is on Molokai. If you searched Maui COUNTY, then I pop up, as Molokai and Lanai are part of Maui Co.

ABOUT ME

I am a single 65 year old gay man who came out late in life. I was married for 32 years and have 2 sons. I am proud that I came out and no regrets. I have been in food service for 50 years and love it! I decided to open my house to guests for two reasons. The first was to meet new people and make new friends. The second was to give people the chance to come to Kalaupapa and learn how special and historical this place is.

I am currently not accepting guests as Kalaupapa has been closed to visitors since the beginning of the Pandemic. We hope to open to visitors with in the next few weeks. If you wish to visit please send request and I will answer promptly. I know that all visitors must be fully vaccinated and have a current NEG Covid test result. Both will need to be verified before you will be allowed to stay.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have hosted a great many people from all over the world, and so far it has been an amazingly positive experience! I do need to tell the people that wish to come, that Kalaupapa is a remote, beautiful and sacred place. It is not easily accessible from the rest of the Island, that we refer to as "Topside". I encourage everyone to Google Kalaupapa and know where you're going so you understand how special this place truly is. It is a place that you will never forget!

I love most all music with a couple of exceptions. I am not partial to rap or hip hop. I love the theater and have have been able to see quite a lot of Broadway and London West End productions.

I can't narrow it down to one! I have traveled to the UK and Europe 3 times (so far!) I've had the amazing fortune to have been able to live and work in this amazing place. I've met scores of lovely people from all over the world through Couchsurfing and actually had dinner with Julia Child!
