About Me

Moving to Geelong!

Just made it to 40. Must say I feel better than ever.I have travelled a bit in Thailand and Europe and have lived in Spain and Mexico. I was a Spanish high school teacher in NZ. I love the Mexican culture, the vitality, the history, the mix of life and death, passion and tradition. I really love the food tacos, chilaquiles, mole, picadillo ... everything! I do some fiction writing. It's more like a lifestyle choice for me than a job. Feel pretty lucky to be here and feel like I learn something every day.

I can possibly host on alternate weekends as I have a small spare room (probably just for one person) and would be happy to show someone around the Bellarine.

I like to take and seek out any opportunities. I love learning. People are amazing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have met friends through groups in Mexico City and would love to find some groups or set up a Spanish language group in Geelong or surrounds.

Music, Movies, and Books

Authors: Henry Miller, Herman Hesse, Tienda de Milagros - Jorge Amado, Henderson The Rain King - Saul Bellow, Octavio Paz - Piedra del Sol, and from NZ Kerri Hulme - the Bone People
Music: My longtime hero Ani Difranco, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Jeff Buckley, Leonard Cohen, Tex Perkins, Caifanes, Heroes del Silencio y mucho mas. From NZ - the Feelers and good old Lindon Puffin

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

For me travelling down to France beside the Rhine passing little white villages surrounded by blue fir trees with the sun coming through the window hitting the crown of my head. Watching the beautiful tranquility of the landscape and knowing I was on my way to achieve what had been a dream of mine for a long time (to see Ani Difranco live in Strassburg)was a moment where I could've died from happiness and not really minded.

Teach, Learn, Share

Okay, I like to talk about literature or art. Have some stories to tell about Aztec culture, Mexican culture, and my opinions on NZ culture. I studied case marking (talking about ways to express who did what to whom in languages of the world), nominal hierarchies (who is more important - speaker, listener, man, woman, horse etc, in languages of the world) and theories about why. I love talking about music and poetry too.
