I'm a Raleigh native, though my parents are from New York and Los Angeles, and we spent my younger years living in Asmara, Eritrea. Sometimes I look like a pirate.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted a lot more than I've surfed because my research so often takes me to spend time long-term in exotic places. It's a great way to meet people I might never have otherwise!

Interests

Science: biocontrols, evolution and development, comparative phonology and the evolution of language. Travel: everywhere, always looking for the last few remote places. I like learning languages and am good at that. I also like cooking quite a lot, and trying to make vegetarian food that's not boring.

I know a lot about biology and linguistics, which are what I studied in school. I'm also an out-of-practice glassblower. I love to learn people's languages and even though I've never had good luck with it I'd like to learn to play a musical instrument well one day.
