About Me

CURRENT MISSION

but for now we are young, let us lay in the sun and count every beautiful thing we can see...

ABOUT ME

Just your average music geek/feminist/vintage military jacket enthusiast/health care professional born and raised in the best city in Scotland...

I'm a doctor, which seems to surprise most people when I meet them for the first time... As of August 2013 I'm just about to start a new job in the emergency department in a busy central Glasgow hospital.

I like my job most of the time but most of the time outside of work I'd rather talk about almost anything instead of medicine. Music is usually a good starting point, or food, or Berlin (I've sort of been in love with Berlin since I first went there in September 2009)... I love good food and good music but will eat most things and dance to pretty much anything. I abhor political correctness. Things I like a lot include interesting beer (particularly ales), balsamic vinegar, halloumi, street art and the smell of second-hand book shops.

NB Please read ALL of my couch info before sending me a request! Can't count the number of times I've received a request from people that have clearly not done this (ie sent me a requests months in advance) and it just gets a bit irritating after a while... Thanks :-)

PHILOSOPHY

Be excellent to each other.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Mostly hosting and hanging out on the Glasgow CS scene...occasional surfing when funds allow for travel....

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

As of June 2013 I've hosted about 50 times, been hosted around 6 times (as I haven't went on a big trip since I joined CS), and have been quite involved in the Glasgow community for the past 18 months or so.

Interests

Travelling, music, films, creative writing, cooking new things, trying to learn to play the guitar, drinking white russians in Nice n Sleazys...

Music, Movies & Books

My favourite films include Withnail and I, The Station Agent, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Amelie, Goodbye Lenin, The Lives of Others, Garden State, Paris Je t'aime and basically anything with Audrey Hepburn or Johnny Depp... Don't watch much TV but my favourite programmes include Flight of the Conchords, Father Ted, Black Books and basically anything food-related.

Music includes The Smiths, David Bowie, Sufjan Stevens, Grizzly Bear, Warpaint, Beach House, Sigur Ros, the XX, Foals, Andrew Bird, Fink, Neutral Milk Hotel, The Knife, Fever Ray, Royksopp, Imogen Heap, Mew, REM, Cut Copy, New Order, Warpaint and anything involving Erlend Oye.

I like books a lot, particularly second-hand ones, and have far too many. Favourite authors include John Irving, David Mitchell, EM Forster, Haruki Murakami, Robin Hobb and JRR Tolkien. Other books I love include The Time Traveller's Wife, Middlesex and The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay.

One Amazing Thing I've Done

Skydiving in Taupo in NZ in 2008, also the overnight cruise I did on Milford Sound as part of the same trip. The scenery in NZ and whole experience was incredible, I would love to go back some time.
