ABOUT ME

Well i am an extremely energetic and friendly person. I have met the most wonderful people during my travels and hope to continue to do so with Couch surfing! Also i hope to be able to show the hospitality to someone(s) as i was shown... why can't we all just get along right? So i am looking for colorful people to enrich my life, and hopefully i will do the same for someone else!

PHILOSOPHY

Strong believer that we all have a purpose in life, and every day you should make your life count. Sometimes we miss out on life when we get too caught up in our careers, and forget that no one will remember your work success when you are old and grey, but they might remember the time you made their day with a simple gesture.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am still fairly new at Couch surfing, but would like to make my couch available over the weekends, ( when i have actual time) to harbor travelers, show them my lovely city and get to share stories and experiences. Most of all, i would like to show you all that Jo'burg is filled with wonderful places, people and moments! So far my hosting experiences have been extremely positive, so keep coming you wonderful travelers!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had previously never had any formal couch-surfing experiences , but a few informal ones. I worked at a summer camp in the states for 3 years after school and spent my free time traveling in between seasons - on these adventures i met the most wonderful strangers who showed me much kindness and even invited me to come again! - now that is what the world should be like! I have hosted some surfers and have had only good experiences! I have also had the pleasure to spend 2 fabulous weeks in Mexico with a great host who is now a friend for life, as well as troops of surfers passing through. :)

On the movie front i tend to be partial to Indie movies and offbeat comedies, but am willing to give anything a fair chance. My favorites tend to be the ones that keep me awake at night, with something to think about. On the Music front i tend to be rather varied also, i have my chilled moments where i love Nora Jones and Jack Johnson, i love music from eras gone past ( vague i know) but to name a few : Billy Holiday, Nina Simone, Frank Sinatra etc etc. I have a special place in my heart for some of the 90's Gems, such as "K's Choice" and have to admit i have my country moments also... On the book front, my all time favorite book is still " the power of one" by Bryce Courtenay, but will read almost anything you put in front of me, bit of a bookworm when i get the opportunity - currently partial to Biographies.

Well I am in Awe of the world on a daily basis, so bare with me.
I have river rafted on the mighty Zambezi and heard the Victoria Falls roar, a must for anyone who needs a reality check on how small you really are in this big world. I have taken a Balloon ride which for me was just thrilling, Getting to do it over the African Bush - that's just Gravy :)
I also had the good fortune to get to do a roadtrip from New York city to Missoula, Montana which made me fall in love with the American people, I met wonderful folks and have memories i will treasure always, and this during September 2001 when their world was somewhat in turmoil.
Lastly I am lucky enough to live in a country where you can actually see the good you do, should you choose to give back to the community, this is always amazing and there is not one experience i can put out above the rest. Start giving people, it's good for the soul...

Teach : well on a more personal note, i would like to make it my mission to teach the world what South Africans and Afrikaaners are really like, i think in some instances they are not fully understood, the same goes for Joburgers, we're nice people, I promise :)
I am also very passionate about my line of work, even though not many other people are... so by all means if you are fascinated by project management and all things schedule related, I'm your girl!
Learn : Spanish! please help me on this adventure, I am very very new and very much a beginner, but keen to learn.
Share : My home, life and experience. And my two Furry Beasts are offering up endless hugs, cuddles and sloppy kisses.
