About Me

CURRENT MISSION

The biggest adventure is always lying ahead

ABOUT ME

I am a tall redhead, a daydreamer and adventurer. I am open and curios; shy sometimes and enthusiastic another time. I try not to have any prejudices and to understand other cultures, ways of thinking and living. I like learning, meeting new people, trying to learn new languages. Just as much as I love to meet and talk to people, experience their life and discuss, I also love and need some quiet time with a book, somewhere in the sun or on a couch.

I love the sea and the smell of it.
In new cities i start walking into the blue and I love to discover places. I just love sailing!
One of my friends introduced me to Yoga and I cannot imagine living without it now. I am mostly vegetarian, try to live and shop ecologically friendly and I also try to travel accordingly.

PHILOSOPHY

Everything that happens in your life gives you something. Sometimes a laugh and bubbles in your stomach. Sometimes, things make you sad, but they give you the opportunity to learn. Nothing is wasted. Take everything as opportunity to learn. You only have one life. And try to life in peace and harmony with the world, the people around you, and the wonderful nature we have.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Whenever some of my friends would mention couchsurfing, their eyes would sparkle, they would become very enthusiastic and come up with the most amazing stories of the wonderful people they met through couchsurfing. This made me want to join as well :-)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Until now nothing, but I am very looking forward to the first one to come!

Interests

I love books and reading and modern art museums. One of the best moments is cooking with friends, being in the kitchen and hearing them talk and laugh and the clattering of the dishes. I enjoy biking a lot. Sailing is something I practically and theoretically love and enjoy. Until now I only sailed on lakes but I would love to try sail on a yacht somewhere on the ocean.

Music, Movies, and Books

Ouch....that's hard. Soo much :-)
Max Frisch, Fred Vargas, Julian Barnes, José Saramago, Pascal Mercier, Roberto Bolano, Patrick O'Brian, Fernando Pessoa, Pablo Neruda, Carolin Emcke, Anton Tschechow, Italo Calvino, Paul Celan, Peter Handke, Richard Prize, Andrea Camilleri. Vargas word "rompol" for roman policier is great, and one criminal book is always under the several books I read at the same time.

My movie taste is an equally weird mix. I love documentaries about artists and dedicated people, Wallace and Gromit movies, The Wire, Pina, Nouvelle Vague movies, Almodovar,...

My taste in music is ever changing. As much as I love classical music, i love some kind of punk and world music, Mano Negra is great,Marie Boine, Brahms; Bach is my all time favorite. I am blessed with music loving friends, so I am constantly learning from them.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

From all trips to far I have some amazing memories.

Camping in the wilderness of Botswana. Hearing the lions at night. The beauty of nature.

Visiting Iceland and discovering hot tubs on a hike. That was amazing. Feeling the isolation in this beautiful landscape

Teach, Learn, Share

There is so much out there, so much to learn. I would like to learn more about other cultures and perspectives and to learn and practice new languages. And I always wanted to do dumpster diving for example, so much for sharing ;-). Apart from that I am more than willing to share my tidbits of strange knowledge with you, may it be some sailing stuff, history or books I read.
