Sobre Mim

Gentle giant who is currently thinking of emigrating to Valencia (not that there is a sanctuary for giants there ).

I'm self-employed; working as webdesigner, SEO-writer, working for a pet sitting platform and also working as a pet sitter on that platform. Besides that I have some personal websites I work on and want to write, illustrate and publish a children's picture book. I am pretty much done with the writing part so now need to illustrate it.

I understand German pretty well. I am learning Spanish at the moment but that's still very basic.

Important note for guests only:
So one of the jobs I do is pet sitting now and then. Dogs are holy beings in my house, so please be clear if you are not ok with dogs (or if you are allergic). I can try to plan your stay around it/not accept dogs those days if I don't have bookings yet. But when you chose to be here while I have a dog I expect you to be very nice to him or her.

My perfect guest is not conservative but open-minded. I have a soft spot for nerdy/geeky/artistic types.
Pick me as a host if you have an interest in history and culture of Amsterdam and aren't afraid of a walk around town (stops to rest included). Pick another host if you mainly come for clubs and drugs. Fine by me if you are of course but I don't want to the risk of drug-related problems, Even though I am thinking of moving to Valencia, I still want to have a good relationship with my neighbours as well and can't have people coming in late and be loud). Want to leave myself and not getting kicked out. :-)

Other than that I do expect a bit of interaction and not just use my place as a free hotel. CS for me is connecting with people from different cultural backgrounds.

Speaking of backgrounds. If you are not verified and want to be hosted by me then I will probably ask to see your ID to confirm you are the person you say you are. Just so you know. :-)

I would love to hang out both as host and as guest. But if I am your guest and you don't have time to hang out (or you don't feel like it) then I'm also perfectly comfortable exploring the city on my own (or go to a coffee bar to work on my laptop or whatever).

Por que estou no Couchsurfing?

I enjoy living in Amsterdam and I like to show people around and tell a bit about the history and culture of Amsterdam and the Dutch. I am also very interested in cultural differences so I like to hear your experiences and views on everything as well. As much as I love Amsterdam and my own place, I am thinking of moving to Valencia.

I did couchsurfing in 2014. The year after I did some Airbnb-ing since I needed the cash. So I have experience hosting different people from different cultures. And I have several expat friends as well.

I am now planning on living like a digital nomad next year by visiting Brasil (various places), Argentina (Buenos Aires), Chile (various), Bolivia (salar de uyuni), Peru (Cusco and maybe Lima), Ecuador (various), Colombia (various), Panama (Panama), Costa Rica (undecided), Mexico (Cancun), Cuba (Havana).
Also want to travel throuhg Europe visiting Italy (various), Greece (various), Ukraine (Kiev and Odessa), Slovenia (no detailed plan yet) and the cities Prague and Budapest, Istanbul and maybe Moscow as well.

I would like to go couchsurfing in Valencia end of May (will be my first time) to explore the different neighbourhoods I might want to live in.

But I would also like to meet some locals from the countries I plan to visit. So I also decided to be available as a host again and meet up with travelers. People from the aforementioned places might have a little edge but I'm still up for meeting cool people from any country. ;-)

Interesses

Art in all forms and shapes: Paintings, cgi, photography, dance, music, architecture etc. I like to do (amateur ) photography myself and am into digital content creation.

I like cities with a rich history and I love old buildings. I also love nature. I want to live in a place that is either a city or close to nature. I want to live in an inspiring place.

I like open-minded people who make an effort to see things from someone else's perspective even though they don't agree with their views. I dislike it when people raise their voice to make their point.

Humour is important to me. The type of humour I like: Ricky Gervais, Louis CK (not pc but can't help that he's funny), Curb your Enthusiasm, Modern Family, 30 Rock, Arrested Development, The Simpsons (old seasons), Flight of the Conchords, Rick and Morty.

I'm into movies, graphic novels and gaming (so I guess I would qualify as a geek)

I am a self-proclaimed animal-lover but I am still not a 100% vegetarian. So I am aware it is a pretty empty claim. Other than this I don't think I am a hypocrite on any other subject. But feel free to prove me wrong when you get to know me. Always open to new insights. :-)

Músicas, Filmes e Livros

I like pretty much any genre of movies including horror and animation but I'm not really into romantic-comedies. I like both art-house movies and Hollywood blockbusters. I have the same broad taste in music. To give you an idea, these are most of the concerts I have been to the past years: She Wants Revenge, Pearl Jam, Radiohead, Massive Attack, Bonobo, The Roots, Crystal Castles, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Kasabian, Hooverphonic, Prince, Ennio Morricone , Major Lazer, Faithless, The Cure, Wu-tang Clan, Ice Cube, Snoop Dog, Placebo, Gorillaz, Chemical Brothers and one of my favorites is Leonard Cohen which I was lucky enough to see live. Not much of a novel reader, mostly special interest , comics or study books.

Ensine, Aprenda, Compartilhe

I have a good understanding of the Dutch culture and know a thing or two about Amsterdam and its history. I also have a broad interest.

O Que Posso Compartilhar com Anfitriões

I hope I can share memorable experiences with the host. :-)
