Hello everyone! My name's Tiphaine, and after a year living in Saratov, Russia in order to learn Russian language, I'm back in my hometown Clermont-Ferrand in France.
I believe I am a very open-minded person, social, laidback, and I like to do all types of activities. Definitely an optimistic person, I believe each of us can make a difference at our own level.
I'm eager to meet all kind of new people thanks to couchsurfing!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The first time I did couchsurfing was in New Zealand. A friend of mine and I did a roadtrip in the south island and we wanted to meet local people who would be able to tell us more about their region, customs, way of life etc. It was so interesting to meet new people and to share their lives even for just a moment!

Unfortunately I haven't been able to host people myself as I never had a flat big enough, but I know that's an experience I'd like to have!

I believe the main purpose in couchsurfing is to meet people you wouldn't meet otherwise, who are locals and can teach you a great deal about their city and the local customs!

Interests

My first interest is traveling. I'm always eager to hear about other people's trip around the world, what they saw, did, ate, experienced. And of course I love to share my own stories! I'm also interested in languages, which I believe are fully part of a culture.

I also love to go to the movie theater. When I can, I usually go at least once a week. I like to go see all types of movies in order to forge my own opinion and then discuss it with other people. The only movies I will never ever go see are horror movies.
Also, it might be a bit ordinary, but I love my TV shows!

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to all kind of music. This is not a very particular interest of mine, I do listen to music but definitely not an expert. I'm willing to discover any new bands though!

My favorite movies include "Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain", "Dallas buyers club", "Mommy", etc. I recently saw The Secret life of Walter Mitty and it blew my mind!! I highly recommend it! I also like to re-re-watch Walt Disney movies from time to time!

As regards to books, I'm currently reading russian novels, hoping it will improve my level in Russian language!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've met with the Dalai Lama while I was in New Zealand. I was interning in a local NGO named The Peace Foundation. A private meeting between this NGO and the Dalai Lama was organized as he was touring in New Zealand. It was truly amazing to meet such an inspiring figure!
