ABOUT ME

My name is Derek, and I now live in
SF in northern-california. It is most definitely NOT sunny all day like most people like to believe the cali weather is. ;)
I was raised in Brazil, and I came to the US as an AuPair after high school - and then never went back. It has now been 5 years of a journey into the unknown, and I wouldn't change a thing. I've met great friends couch surfing, and have been able to learn and share experiences from and with people that I would have never known otherwise. I think that couchsurfing enables us not only to travel cheaply and know whats up from a local perspective, but I had many great unque conversations with people that were presumably "strangers." Couchsurf has shown me how really connected we all are and I look forward to know, learn, taste, and laugh about more unexpected similarities and differences among us all

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

There's nothing better than hosting a couchsurfer in Berkeley, SF, or Sao Paulo, and enjoy a beer or cooking while we get to know each other through our stories, homes, and living room furniture. I love to host others as they bring their vacation and adventure into my home, and am always a respectable and proper couchsurfer, when cozing up on your couch. Couchsurfing makes for the best times when travelling, and sharing and making those stories is the best!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I couchsurfed all over, from the northeast of Brazil with two Belgian exchange students, to South Africa and Mozambique with SAfrican locals and italian ex-pats. I've hosted a couple of people in my place when I was in Berkeley. Since it was not a major location I never got many requests. Now I got three roomates in SF and its sort of complicated to host, but I always absolutely make myself available for coffee or a night out - there's nothing like local insight!

Interests

capoeira!! its a fight originated from african slaves in brazil, that involves dancing, fighting, singing, instruments, acrobatics... its a really great workout too! i also get into meditation and yoga. love beer,
, running, tv, pizza, pasta, mangos, chocolate, some cartoons, not really into videogames or such, meditation, that good cold beer in the tropics is also definitely one of my interest.... pretty normal stuff?!
