ABOUT ME
Male. 26 years old. Born in a rural village in the east of The Netherlands. Currently living in the by far coolest city our country has: AMSTERDAM! Spending time doing sports (football, tennis, fitness, etc.), meeting up and partying with my great friends, dreaming of and using my (way too few) holidays to explore the other 99,99342% of the world.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Our country is ridiculously small. But is that a bad thing? Nah, at least it makes me as a 'Dutchy' very eager to cross our borders. Physically....
Not just Belgium or Germany, no I wanna see it all. For that reason I have traveled throughout South and Central America for a year and I'm planning something alike (although shorter) for Asia.
While traveling the most of the time you are around fellow travelers. Which is nice, because you're in the same situation. However, from my own trips the best memories are the a priori unexpected moments shared with the local community. In that way you really get to know the country you visit and its people. And that's why I would like to return the favor to those visiting The Netherlands, and specifically Amsterdam.
... but also mentally. Cross your borders/limits, take risks and be adventurous! You won't get disappointed.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Traveling throughout Latin-America for an entire year. During this year I have seen amazing things like the waterfalls of Iguazú Falls, the glacier Perito Poreno, the salt flets of Uyuni, Machu Picchu and go on and on. However, nothing beats the opportunity HoPe Foundation (http://www.stichtinghope.org/en/) gave me to stay for a few weeks in a small village in the Andes and teach English to the local kids.
Teach, Learn, Share
During my year in Latin America I have learned to speak Spanish. However, that was 1,5 year ago and it's fading away from my memory. So meeting native Spanish speaking people would be a big plus for me! (In exchange I can teach some dutch :-) )
