CURRENT MISSION

I could write some shitty motto or something, but truth is I'm living to accomplish my dreams. I've realised a few of them actually and that's the best feeling in the world. I still have quite a lot of things to do on my bucketlist, and travelling is one of them.

ABOUT ME

I'm a 26 year old guy, currently living in Gent. I moved out of the parents nest in the beginning of 2015 from Brugge to Gent to live on my own. I moved there to practice the job of my dreams, following the example of my granddad. I have a stable and well payed job, and it's basically my dreamjob. How many people can say that?

I also own a French Bulldog of about 1,5 years old. He's called Winston and he's fully black with brownish tigerstripes and a 1 cm² white dot on his chest. I see him as my closest friend and has been my compagnion in lonely days.

I myself am maybe a bit hesitant in the beginning, but when I'm accustomed I'm actually very social. I love being in company of people. I'm a very open minded person and thus like to discuss matters on certain subjects. I have my own opinion on things but I'm always interested in other people's views and I really respect that. I believe seeing and hearing different views on things broadens your view and makes you look on things in other perspectives in ways you couldn't imagine before. What I like to discuss or talk about the most is music. I'm a big music fan and go to show almost weekly if my working schedule allowes me to. I like different kinds of music but mostly hardcore, punk and every subgenre sprouting out of that like poppunk, post-hardcore,... besides that everything alternative and indie. I like going to bars that play live music and have a couple of beers whilst listening. Yeah, beer is my kind of thing (I'm from Belgium, duh) and you can always make me more than happy joining me for beers.

Also nice to know: I'm a clean and well organised person. I tend to have everything clean and tidy so for future hosts/couchsurfers: you know what you're getting in. Besides that I like good cooking and love to cook myself, I eat too much actually because I like it so much. I have to do sports 5 times a week to get that extra fat off of me damnit! So local dishes and beers (and music) make me the happiest kid in the world. REALLY! :)

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm looking for hosts (not beds... hosts!) to receive me and indulge me into their culture, habits, cuisine, music,... Every once in a while I go for a short trip, but now I want to step it up a notch. I could check in a hotel too, but that way you can't get to know nice local people.. or at least not that easily.

I have space available too if anyone wants to see Ghent/or any other city in Belgium. I can show you around, teach you some dutch or just go out and have a drink.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My couchsurfing experience is non-existing, so yeah I'm a newbie. But everyone needs to start somewhere, right?

Interests

I mainly try to work out as much as I can during the week to stay/get in shape. I try to do that 5 times a week.

Besides that I listen a lot to music (all day long whenever I can). There's so much good music out there and I discover something new every day. I listen especially to hardcore, punk, post-hardcore, indie, alternative,... Don't even know where to begin if you ask for my favourite bands/singers. Currently I'm listening alot to Modern Baseball, Wild Moth, Khushi, Anne, Grouper, Wavves, Pity Sex, Drug Church, Brand New, Make Do And Mend, Harms Way, Glass Animals, Feral & Stray, Foxing,.... Maybe ask me when we meet up maybe ;)

I like watching/going to movies. I'm really fond of everything science fiction, fantasy, comedy, and everything Marvel/DC movies... I love going to the cinemas, eat nachos with cheese dip (popcorn is good too but sticks between my teeth and on the back of my throat, yuk) and have an oversized soft drink. Then afterwards go for a beer, exactly!

When I'm on a holiday I don't particularly like hanging on the beach or by the side of a swimming pool. I'd rather stroll around and do some sightseeing, preferably the non touristic stuff. I like to do cultural events or museums/expositions. And of course have a taste of the nightlife.

Oh yeah, I'm also in love with tattoos. I've got quite a few and last summer went to Paris especially to get one done. It's one of my goals to get a tattoo in every city/country I visit :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies? YES, alot! Everything Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Action, Animation even...
Music: mainly hardcore and punk, but I'm very openminded and listen to almost everything. But you already have read this above ;)
Books: Hardly any, no time. But I should definitely pick up reading again!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you some Dutch, how not to do politics, how to make delicious Flemish carbonades with fries and applesauce, and which Belgian beers you should definitely try out.
