About Me

I want to know a lot of people from all over the world, I am particularly interested in developing new ways to communicate in different languages, with interesting people.

My name is Alí, I love music, particularly the happy/sad folk music from all over the world. I am a physicist who is planning to be a researcher, however I am not stocked in physics, I like art in all its forms. I have learned 3 foreign languages by coincidence, because I wanted to have a scholarship outside from my country.

I think this site is wonderful, because it creates a good opportunity to know other cultures from all over the world. I would love to practice this languages I have learned, and it would be nice to meet people that can play music from their own countries, or it doesn't matter what kind of music. I would enjoy a lot playing with them, I am not a professional but a take music as a serious part-time hobby. LOL

Es würde mich sehr freuen auf Deutsch mit dir sprechen.

Je voudrais aussi pratiquer mon francais.

Y si quieren podemos hablar español también.

I think that I can broaden this section later...

So... See ya soon!

There is a phrase from a very smart guy (I won't tell his name):

"Imagination is more important than knowledge"

(and I try to apply this to life in different ways)

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

I have stayed in Paris with a couch surfer that allowed me and two other people to stay in her apartment. She was really nice, and she even cooked us some crepes and we ate "gallette de rois" because it was a special day.

- Music: as a part-time hobbie, I mostly play the guitar, but I have some habilities to play percussions, and other instruments. (hey, if you are musician that would be very nice to play together) I love Jazz, but I am not a good musician so it is hard for me to play good improvisations.

- Physics: Well, I work in this thing!, it is really interesting!, I am working with nanoscience stuff (if you are interested, please ask for details). However I would love to have a PhD in Quantum optics.

- Poetry: I think that this is my emotional part. Nicolás Guillén, Pablo Neruda and Jaime Sabines write beautiful poetry from my point of view.

-Dancing: If you know how to dance Salsa, Cumbia or Son, I will be very pleased to learn from you. I can dance but not that well.

Music, Movies & Books

Amelie, Une longe dimanche de fiancelles, Tous contre Gregoire (ou quelque chose comme ca). I like art films.

Music: Rigo Tovar, Wynton Marsalis, Glenn Gould, les ogres de Barback, Tryo, Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, Bob Marley, Metallica, Jorge Drexler, Silvio Rodríguez.

One Amazing Thing I've Done

I have seen a kind of comet that was not identified, it happened in 1999, maybe on 18th December, it was a kind of bizarre because I was alone and I suddenly saw this "thing" from the sight of the biggest window in my house. I was totally amazed about this! It was wonderful, I have read a newspaper the day after that, and there was a funny little paragraph where they wrote that it was an UFO that was seen in the north part of the country! well... I think it was a Comet because of the different pictures that I saw.

I think that in my city just a few people saw it, it just lasted some seconds. Surprisingly, a big part of the sky was illuminated.

Teach, Learn, Share

First of all! Music, music, I want to learn music! I would love to learn all about your country, it is very important for me to know other languages.

I would love to know a girl that can teach me how to dance Salsa, cumbia or Son, I can dance this rythms in Mexican chilango style but i am not an expert.

About teaching... Well, what can i say?

I can teach you spanish, or basic german, french or english.

I can teach you play some basic guitar.

We can share some math or pyhysics knowledge... We can share partitions and mp3 music.

Whatever... let's ask ourselves and share!
