This week I decided to quit Couchsurfing.com
When COVID hit, the owners decided that they would charge a fee to use Couchsurfing.com I did not agree and didn't pay the fee.
The pandemic is long over but they still charge a membership fee.
Last year, I decided that I'd pay the one year rate and be done with it, forever. Not so fast says the owners. This year, they charged my credit card again. Without my authorization. Here is the email I received 9 days and two emails after they took my money. I will be contacting my credit card company.
But I want others to be away of the ramifications of paying couchsurfing by your credit card.

We looked into your request more closely. Unfortunately, per our Terms of Use, to which you agreed when creating your account, and each time you access and use the application, we are still unable to process your refund request.

All goods are digital and immediately available and consumable. Further, Couchsurfing incurs significant costs when providing some or all of the digital goods purchased. You can read more about our policy in this FAQ article.

Depending on my volunteer schedule, I may be able to host.

I'm no longer new to Couchsurfing. I learned about it a number of years ago by hosting a couple who had just biked across Canada. It was a great experience learning about them and sharing stories about our travels.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want the people who visit my city to enjoy their experience and I love sharing stories and meeting people.
As time permits, I'll show you around, cook brunch and supper, share stories, and make sure that you are left with good memories of your visit to St. John's.

Interests

I attend church almost every Sunday. I coach and referee volleyball. I've recently gotten back into photography.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a fan of Classic Rock, but Irish Newfoundland music comes a close second. My collection is quite varied.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I don't appreciate that Couchsurfing wants to charge me to be a member.
I did purchase a one year membership but it will eventually expire.
