About Me

Hi, I am a Scottish student who is currently on a year out from university to gain experience working as an architect. I am really easy going, up for anything and love socialising!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I recently accepted an internship with an architecture practice in Copenhagen and the contract starts on the 13th February. Given that Copenhagen is a very competitive place to find accommodation, I have been struggling to find anywhere as I don't speak Danish, can't meet the landlords and also have a very limited time to find a place.

I would love to stay with someone/people for a week or so, just in order to find my feet and search for a more permanent room that I could call home for the next few months!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
I am one of those people that listens to almost anything, so my friends often think my music taste is awful haha! But i think it just broadens your horizons! One day it could be big band jazz, the next classic rock and the day after, pop...

Movies:
A good comedy movie that can make me really laugh but equally enjoy watching thrillers that get you thinking even after the movie is over. At the moment I am fully engrossed in 'The Walking Dead' (for some reason, I just love it haha).

Books:
It takes me a while to choose books and often I struggle to find the time to read but usually I like to pick up classics such as 'The Iliad', 'The Heart of Darkness' and 'Papillon'. More recently, I have been reading architecture books as I am pretty passionate about my subject of study so its really a bit like a hobby as well as a learning project.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Swam in lake Titicaca, Bolivia. Jumped from 40 foot cliffs in Portugal. Released turtles into the wild in Java. Surfed on the Indian ocean. Dined on Chinese delicacies, 10 storeys up in Hong Kong.

Teach, Learn, Share

Moving to Denmark will be my first encounter with the Danish culture and language, it would be great to learn some of the real basics of the Danish language and maybe gain a few tips about the cultures do's and don't's! In exchange, I could help my host with their English if they would like and could teach them a little bit about where I am from (Scotland).

If my hosts are interested in architecture and design, I am sure we could have loads to speak about, as I know Copenhagen is full of interesting designers and architects!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I could cook any of my speciality dishes that I love to rustle up at home or even try to bring some traditional Scottish haggis to cook for my hosts!
I am very chatty, so would love to share some good stories with my hosts and have a laugh.
