About Me

I'm recently retired and hoping to travel more which I did years ago. I've never made a lot of money so need to travel simply to fit my budget. I have a fairly young look for my 66 years and have a youthful open spirit. Love the outdoors. Hiking, biking, x-country skiing, tennis and camping. When I travel it's usually been camping out if possible. Couch surfing could be an exciting new way to travel and meet local folks while doing so. I'm very easy going, polite, dependable and a good listener. Genuinely interested in people of all backgrounds. Hope my age isn't too much of a problem since it seems mostly young people use this site. In case it comes up, I am a straight male with no interest in venturing outside of this lifestyle. I like to get some exercise everyday to help stay healthy. I grew up Catholic but now am more interested in eastern philosophy. Have been told I have a Buddhist nature.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet people while traveling on a budget since my retirement income is fairly small. To experience new places through the eyes of people living in the area.

Music, Movies, and Books

Folk, alternative, rock, spiritual. Usually like movies with minimal characters which focus on the life experience we all share. If they have a beautiful outdoor element all the better. Often read non fiction. Spirituality, adventure.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Walked across the USA with 500 people on a peace march focusing on nuclear disarmament. It was called The Great Peace March For Global Nuclear Disarmament. It took nine months. Later walked in the Soviet Union with Soviet citizens and Americans. This led to my marrying a woman from Kiev, Ukraine. No longer married though. Have a beautiful son from these experiences though.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Mostly a genuine interest in your life. Possibly some philosophical wisdom from reflecting on my years. I'm neat and happy to be helpful in anyway possible. I have a quiet appreciative presence. Not likely to disturb you much.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Mexico, Netherlands, Russian Federation, Ukraine

Countries I’ve Lived In

United States
