About Me

With great joy I will introduce myself. My name is Tom, I’m 33 years old and I come orginal from a small village in the Netherlands. Now I live in Utrecht and before that I lived in Rotterdam and Milan.

I'm a pretty down to earth person and accept people as they are. I especially get energy from doing, learning or designing things. You don't see me often: watching TV, using the computer or with my mobile. I believe that we are presented with a trouble worldview through the media. And I like authenticity!

I think it would be interesting to meet new people from different cultures. What does your normal day look like and what do you like to do?

A passion of mine is architecture and exploring cities. Furthermore I like travelling, going out, and reading books. To keep my healthy and fit, I joined an athletics club, and in the past I played football.
I almost forgot: travelling and discovering new things. That’s also a passion of mine. I have traveled to many European countries and some outside Europe. In recent years I have been to Colombia, Cuba and Georgia..

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To me it seems like an interesting way of travelling I am not yet familiar with. Hopefully I will get to know cultures in a different way than I know now. Different than the ones described in travel guides, travel agencies and on google. I would love to listen to your stories. How you live, the language, what you experience, how you think about certain things and what you like to do in your country. Of course I can tell you a lot about my own country. Discover what the differences and similarities are. I think it would be great to do things. I can go exploring on my own but together or in a group is also fine. Well, now I’ve told you quite a bit about why I’m on couch surfing. I’m curious about you and why you are couch surfing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hard to say… there is more than one. But if I have to, I will choose for my backpack trip to Thailand. This was my first trip on my own. Started in Bangkok, and from there I travelled north and at the last minute to the south as well. Went up and flew back from Bangkok. I rode a bike, partied, swam, rafted, hiked and got to know many new people. Unforgettable experience!

Teach, Learn, Share

At this moment I’m unable to receive any guests. I can share my travel stories and adventures I have experienced. I like to talk about cities, architecture and culture.
