About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To never stop living, loving, learning and growing. Oh, and hopefully having a good time along the way.

ABOUT ME

I'm never good with this question.

PHILOSOPHY

This quote from Einstein sums up how I look at life pretty well:

"Learn from yesterday, live for today, and hope for tomorrow. The important thing is to never stop questioning."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I don't have any experience using CS, but while in Germany I stayed with my roommate's friend who I had never met before. He was so hospitable (he gave me his bed and beer!) and friendly, it blew my mind. Before that, I was very much stuck in an all too common American mindset that such encounters are awkward and dangerous. The three days I spent in Munich made me realize how much opening up a bed or couch to a traveler can promote cross-cultural interactions and benefit both the host and the traveler.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Shaun of the Dead, Forrest Gump, Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels

Music: I'll give anything a chance. Right now, I've got some Super Furry Animals playing.

Books: The Unlikely Disciple, What is the What, Life of Pi, The Heart of Buddha's Teaching, A Short History of Nearly Everything

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

After having gone snowboarding only two times before, I went snowboarding in the Swiss Alps. I fell, tumbled, and ate lots of snow for the first couple hours before finally being able to stay upright from lift to lift. Even when I fell, though, I didn't mind sitting on my butt and taking in the incredible scenery around me.

Teach, Learn, Share

I could probably teach some basic guitar and cooking skills. I'm always down for some philosophical, political, or ethical discussions.

I'd love to learn how to salsa. Oh, and speak Spanish.
