Hello! My name is Tom, I'm a Quebecois/Canadian musician and sound artist.
My practice could be described as this :

Tom Jacques' artistic approach evolves between composition, improvisation, interpretation and the design of sound devices. His works are rooted in a variety of practices, including music, sound installation, lutherie, digital art, craft and visual arts. The fabrication of new devices is at the center of his compositional and improvisational approach. Choosing to stay in his home town at the beginning of his career was an act of resistance to rural exodus.

Theses days, I'm working and travel a lot around Asia, so after a long time not using couchsurfing, I decided to re-open my account !

Beside music, I love great conversation and I'm quite interested in social and natural sciences, politics and linguistic/languages.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

À titre de voyageur, je suis toujours très heureux de pouvoir rencontrer, passer du temps et partager des discussion avec des gens de tous azimuts.

À titre de host, j'aime bien l'idée d'offrir l'espace vacant de ma maison et son énergie à tous les voyageurs lorsque c'est possible. Je suis généralement très occupé mais je suis toujours content de préparer un lit, donner des conseils, et discuter quand j'ai le temps. Bref, le principe est simple vous faites comme chez vous en respectant le lieu.

Hay mucha artistas que me gusta, no tengo sufficiente patienca para porner todo! Musica contemporanea como John Cage, Mauricio Kagel, Ivan Wyschnegradsky... Jazz como Steve Coleman, Tehlonious Monk, Henry Threadgill... Cancion como Tom Ze, Leonard Cohen, Brigitte Fontaine... Hip hop como Jazz liberators, the underground, Sampa the great, no name. Me gusta tambien mucho la musica traditional del mundo y creo que siempre estaba una inspiration para artistos contemporeano. La Reunion, Danyel Waro, martinique, India, Indonesia, Congo, Mongolia, Brasil ...
