Overview
About Me
I grew up in the Czech Republic. At 20 I moved to the UK where I lived for the next 18 years. In 2015 I moved again this time to Slovakia, where I've been co-running my friend's company. The greatest impact from my travels was my 3 weeks in Japan. It was just unbelievable how everything is organised and works, people are mindful and respectful of one another. I'd love to go back and visit rural areas, Hokkaido and Okinawa. Finding time to learn Japanese is hard. I learnt some Russian and German but I am only limited to a couple of phrases now. I am conscientious as far as recycling, supporting local businesses, eco-friendliness and sustainability are concerned. Others would describe myself as a calm, genuine, laid-back person. Having lived in the UK for so long, I got a dry sense of humour.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have always gone to local places, tried to eat the local food to get to know the country I was in. This seems like a step to get with the locals more. I’m also writing and subsequently sharing my travelling experiences. The next huge step for me, will be a public presentation.
Interests
Travelling is definitely my passion. I love exploring, getting lost in the crowds, stopping to get something locally authentic to eat. I tried to be very active on my travels and cram as much as possible into my itinery but can appreciate a relaxing time as well. Cities are great but after a while I long for the beach or mountains. Islands are perfect for that. When it comes to hiking I prefer longer walk over a hilly terrain to extreme steep climbing. I was playing chess from 7 and travelled to various tournaments, furtherest St. Petersburg. Unfortunately, I stopped at high school.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love films. More and more I watch foreign ones with subtitles, especially Korean, Scandinavian, that gives me a starting knowledge about the language, people.
I am not a great book reader. My author would be Paolo Coelho.
Music- 90's rock bands, Queen.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Watched Aurora Borealis unaware of the world was at a standstill because of the 2010 eruptions of Eyjafjallajökull
Teach, Learn, Share
I love sharing and talking about travel experiences, it just broadens one's horizon.
I can help others with practising and learning English.
I am hoping that once I get settled in Slovakia I will be able to start hosting.
