About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Life is a wild ride, Ay.

ABOUT ME

Tomas is an obsessive architect notorious for building strange shapes with unexpected materials.

Stephanie is a compulsive seed collector and aspiring french speaker with a history of growing food in illegal places.

We met on a permaculture farm on an island in a lake in Nicaragua and now we are traveling the world together- building projects, making friends and gathering stories along the way.

after living on the island of Martinique, traveling in the states and moving around a bit everywhere for the last two years, we have finally found a place in the countryside of France to put down our roots for awhile.

UPDATE (June 2019): Five years after moving to France, and we now have two daughters, one tiny house and a whole bunch of accumulated stuff (mostly books and records). Stephanie speaks passable French now too.
Now that we've had a taste of "settled" life, we are ready to get back on the road, so we are selling our house, giving away a bunch of the stuff we've accumulated, and moving to South America for at least a year (keeping options open to stay as long as we like). First, stopping to visit a friend's organic farm near Montreal before heading south to renovate a house on the ocean in Chile, then helping to organise the International Permaculture Convergence in Argentina. Who knows what will come next? Certainly not us!...

PHILOSOPHY

couchsurfing is like hitchiking, simple free and you meet people.
we like to explore the cities we visit and see what makes a place unique.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

we like to use couchsurfing more for social reasons than economic reasons. It is a great way to meet people, have fun and travel at the same time.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We are lucky to have met amazing people and shared many memorable experiences thanks to couchsurfing- from camping next to a geodesic dome in Telluride, Co during the Mushroom Festival to trading pineapple growing tips in a wonderfully simple home in Dominica.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While traveling in Dominica without a place to stay, we asked a woman at the bus stop if she knew of anywhere we could camp. She offered to let us pitch our tent on her land and, when we arrived at her house, insisted that we sleep in her spare bed room and cooked us a delicious meal. After having spent weeks sleeping in a tent with no mat and living on seeds and dried fruit, this woman's generosity and willingness to host us on-the-spot was one of the highlights of an otherwise incredible trip in one of the most amazing places we have ever been.

Teach, Learn, Share

Tomas studied architecture and wood construction and can easily speak about that for hours. He can be a bit of a dictator of naturals building!
He also loves to share Jazz and classical music.
In Canada, he was a climbing instructor and would be happy to teach a bit if you'd like.

Stephanie loves all things plants and is always happy to share what she knows, learn more about what she doesn't, and lend a hand in the garden.
