About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Wondering about this rather strange, but beautiful world
ABOUT ME
I tend to appear quiet. That's because I love to listen and learn. But you can also hear me talking about innumerable random things like how to behave when meeting a wild grizzly, how to memorize the bones of the hand, how to catch a salmon, how to solve a Rubiks cube, how to build a flute...
To me the single most important approach to life is curiosity. I never stop wondering about things. Since I'm interested in literally everything, we'll have a good conversation for sure.
A huge part of my life is built around music. I spend a lot of time listening, searching for new artists, travelling to concerts, and playing myself. I play piano, bodhran (Irish frame drum), Irish whistles, and recently also guitar and ukulele. My whistles (handmade!)are always with me on the road.
It is a magnificent gift to be alive with open eyes and crafting hands. I wander on this little blue planet for a short moment in the vastness of eternity, and all I can say is: Holy Moly! That's AWESOME!
PHILOSOPHY
My greatest source of happiness is wondering about this world. Incredible things are waiting to be discovered! In clear nights you can find me standing under a starry sky recognizing that we have no idea what this is all about. Life is strange. And awesome.
I'm a freethinker, following some parts of certain philosophies. I love discussing, I believe this widens the own horizon like nothing else. Peacefully, of course. Discussing is not about winning, but about learning: new horizons are mainly found by having new eyes...
Oh, and I'm convinced that travelling is also a philosophy. To travel means to live, and to live means to travel.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books: Some of my favourite authors are Carl Sagan, Oliver Sacks, JRR Tolkien, Roald Dahl, Bill Bryson, Frank Schätzing, Martin Suter, Mark T. Sullivan, Henning Mankell, Terry Pratchett, Jostein Gaarder.
Music: A lot!
There are so many different music styles I love. To name a few: Traditional Irish music, experimental folk music from all kinds of countries - especially Scandinavia - the vast world of Metal, particularly the black and folk varieties, dark ambient, classical music (Bach!), Ska, Punk, Medieval music... And the piano pieces of Yann Tiersen, they are the definition of beauty.
Give those bands a listen if you want: Wardruna, Valravn, Sigur Ros, Mumford & Sons, Eluveitie, Omnia, Faun, The Inchtabokatables.
Movies: The two movies I recommend to every traveller are Baraka and Samsara.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One? Hundreds! Encountering a wild Brown Bear at 3m distance in Alaska, seeing the midnight sun up in Norway, hearing the wolves howl in Yellowstone, kayaking with Orcas in the northwestern Pacific, diving with octopuses in Turkey, crawling through mud three days to see a kiwi in New Zealand and then really seeing him in the end, taking part in a brain tumor operation, dancing, moshing, headbanging at concerts and festivals in Germany, drinking pints of Guinness in Dublin, tears of joy under the silent dance of the northern lights... jam sessions with fellow couchsurfers until 4 in the morning... Playing piano at grey evenings in fall, taking long walks in winter nights.... To be continued!
Teach, Learn, Share
Ask! I might know an answer. Especially if it's about the stars in the night sky, the birds in the trees, the fish in the water or the physics of the sun.
I can teach you how to juggle as well.
I'm studying to become a doctor so if you want to know something about the human body, don't hesitate to ask...
I'd love to learn how to whistle on two fingers, I haven't figured that out yet.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I play various instruments so I might be able to teach you a bit, and of course I'm always up for a jam session. If we get to see the night sky I can tell you stuff about the constellations, how to see galaxies with the naked eye, and how to find north in the northern hemisphere and south in the southern hemisphere.
Countries I’ve Visited
Austria, Canada, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Slovenia, Sweden, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States
Countries I’ve Lived In
