Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

One great experience in Florence!

Interests

Travelling and taking photographs recording the sounds of different places. Exploring rain forests, looking for animals and birds. Here's a sample of what I mean:

Diving and listening to live music and joining in whenever possible and dancing. Photography and film making are now a major focus.

At home I work at a community radio station, having just finished a Master's degree in philosophy of the social sciences. Living in London is great, though it's necessary to get out of town on my motorbike when possible, including one big trip to the middle of France to meet my girlfriend's dad. Perhaps it will take me around the world at some point.

Music, Movies, and Books

David Loyn's history of the Frontline news agency is a really enjoyable to read. The biography of Apsley Cherry-Garrad is good too. At this moment I'm listening to Late Junction on the BBC. I recently found a band called loose lips sink ships which is an instrumental group that are somewhere between prog and a melodious (quite joyful) math rock sound. And a traditional english singer called Nic Jones. Top films from recent memory include the Coconut Revolution, the Valley, Like Father Like Son. The Life Aquatic has always been a pleasant film to fall asleep to!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Done: a month long residency in Derry, Northern Ireland, making radio with the people we met there. Really, truly incredible.

Seen: Watching baby humpback whales breaching off the coast of the Masoala peninsula, Madagascar.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Bahamas, Cambodia, Denmark, Gambia, Germany, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Madagascar, Malaysia, Mali, Senegal, Spain, Switzerland, United States, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In

United Kingdom
