Sobre mí

CURRENT MISSION

To make friends with an Orangutan

ABOUT ME

Hello. I'm Tom.
I'm from the UK, and have spent the last few years living away and travelling.
I'm a fun, enthusiastic and generally interested kinda guy. I'm just as likely to be passing my time reading about science or history as I am to be playing frisbee or running up a big hill.
All that said, I'm pretty chilled out too.
I love meeting new people, making new friends and learning new things about the world.
I probably sound tedious don't I? I hope not.

PHILOSOPHY

Don't be a dick.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm a brand new member to CS myself, but through my partner, I have had the pleasure of meeting and hosting several Couch Surfers over the last few months and it has been a great experience.
Currently, I'll only be looking to meet or surf, but certainly will be looking to host again in the future.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My experience of CS so far has been excellent. I have met a great many interesting and lovely people from all over the world.
Staying with Couchsurfers at Wineglass Bay this Christmas and New Year is my highlight so far.

Intereses

Reading, writing travel journals and short fiction, playing guitar (badly), listening to lots and lots of music, riding motorbikes, cycling bicycles, running, running up things, making spicy food, being a vegetarian, learning lots about everything.

Música, películas y libros

I like most types of music and lots of different books! For an idea, I'm currently listening to lots of:
Crosby, Stills Nash and Young, Arcade Fire, MF Doom, Explosions in the Sky, Bruce Springsteen and UNKLE.
And I've most recently read:
Midnight's Children (Rushdie), The Greatest Show on Earth (Dawkins), A Song of Ice and Fire (Martin), The God of Small Things (Roy) and Down Under (Bryson)

Algo increíble que he hecho

It's so hard to choose just one!
A few highlights would be:
- Watching the sun set over Sigiriya in Sri Lanka. It's definitely worth the climb
- Sitting beside Chew Valley Reservoir, close to my home in England, on cold, crisp mornings after a good hour of climbing
- Taking in the spectacular views of Hampi from atop Anjaneya Hill

Enseña, aprende, comparte

I love to learn and love to teach even more.
I'm not sure how much I will have to offer to everyone, but:
- I've worked as an English teacher to people whose first language isn't English.
- I have worked in recruitment and have a few insider tips on job applications and CVs
- I have a solid knowledge of lots of practical stuff like building, carpentry and DIY
- I'm a good proof-reader/grammar fiend

Hope I can help!
