ABOUT ME

I am retired from both the US Military and the US Postal Service, and now just enjoy my free time. I have been single since 1992 after being married for 22 years. I have three children, a daughter and two sons, who have all provided me with grandchildren. I am looking forward to traveling in Central and South America. While in the military, I had the opportunity to travel extensively in Asia and Europe.

PHILOSOPHY

I feel it is everyone's responsibility to work hard to earn an education in order to provide for themselves throughout their lives, and not have to depend on others or the government for their subsistence. The end result of one's success is made up of many small decisions made throughout their lives.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

When I travel, I try to meet and sometimes stay with host couch surfers who are able to tell me about and show me the area which I'm visiting. Knowing the local customs and means of travel is extremely helpful. When hosting, I do my best to inform people what to see and do, and sometimes show them around.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My travels as a CSer have included Belize and Yucatan, Mexico. I have hosted CSers from as far away as Europe.
Although it wasn't actually couch Surfing, while I was in the military, I belonged to a pen-pal club and had the opportunity to meet and visit families in the Philipines, Singapore, Malaysia and Australia. I also lived, for a year or more, among the local populations in Korea, Okinawa, and Germany learning their local customs and traditions.

Interests

Seeing new places and making new friends. I think CS will provide a rewarding experience while traveling, because instead of just visiting new places, I will be visiting new found friends in those places and I will be better able to learn the local customs and traditions.

I enjoy most action type movies and like to read many adventure periodicals and self-help books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing that I've done was to bring three beautiful children into this world and watch them grow into differint individuals with their own successes and failures. They will always be my pride and joy.

Teach, Learn, Share

My special skills were obtained by attending many classes and seminars. I can talk endlessly on the subject of buying and rehabilitating houses for rent and/or selling for profit. It is a passion with me, and I never get bored with it. It was a hobby that turned into a business.
