About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live. And to keep reminding myself that this is the mission. This is the greatest mission that anybody can hope to fulfil, and yet somewhere in fighting to prove ourselves many of us forget that. Myself included.

ABOUT ME

I'm endlessly curious about life and people. You can usually find me pondering over a hot coffee, sat cross-legged reading a good book, or immersed in deep conversation.

In addition I'm a writer, I play piano, I enjoy running, drinking red wine and I'm vegetarian. I'm a big coffee fan (read: obsessive). And I get very philosophical after a few beers.

PHILOSOPHY

My philosophy has changed a lot over the last few years. Today, I think it's simply this... "Become who you are."

Not become who you SHOULD be - this suggests that you could be something other than what you currently are.

Not become ALL you can be - because this suggests that you're already lacking something. To want to become ALL that you can be suggests that right now you are not already whole.

Alan Watts summarises it well:

"The meaning of life is just to be alive. It's so plain and so obvious and so simple. And yet, everybody rushes around in a great panic as if it were necessary to achieve something beyond themselves."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

At the moment I can only surf and meet up for drinks :(

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My favourite experiences from Couchsurfing are very simple; I like to spend time with passionate, interesting people over beers, coffee or sometimes both ;)

More specifically this has involved a dinner party in Sarajevo, chilling out on the banks of the Ljublanica River with people I met through Couchsurfing and being engrossed in interesting conversation in pubs all across Europe.

Interests

My biggest interests are life and people. I'm on a mission to hear stories, to immerse myself in peoples' way of life, and to listen curiously as they describe their passions and ideas. As YOU describe your passions and ideas.

I want to have adventures. As Paulo Coelho wrote "I want to continue being crazy; living my life the way I dream it, and not the way other people want it to be."

Music, Movies, and Books

Books:
The Wisdom Of Insecurity - Alan Watts
Think On These Things - Jiddu Krishnamurti
The Power Of Now - Eckhart Tolle
Siddharta - Hermann Hesse
On The Shortness Of Life - Seneca
Man's Search For Meaning - Viktor Frankl

Music:
Almost everything.

If you were to look at the four artists I play the most they'd be Ludovico Einaudi, Coldplay, Damien Rice and Red Hot Chili Peppers.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I moved to Ljubljana with no plan and a limited supply of money - yet managed to make it work somehow.

I travelled Europe for 52 days on £1000 and wrote a book about it.

I quit my job in banking in January 2014 to see if I can live a life that is true to myself. I'm still seeing where that takes me.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can help with English, with writing (especially if you have a business or a project and need some help with writing for it), or I can simply listen and share deep conversation with you. Whatever you need, I'd like to help.

I just want to learn about you. I would like it if you could invite me into your world so I can come to understand your story, your ideas and your life.

Countries I’ve Lived In

Slovenia, United Kingdom
