Hey, you don't know me, but I'll be sleeping on you couch - hopefully!

I'm a 27 year old freelance journalist from Germany. I studied to be a translator but then decided that journalism was way cooler and more impressive to talk about on school reunions. I now live and work in Cologne, which would be probably one of the best cities in Germany, if only the Colonians themselves stopped bragging about it.

Anyway, through my studies and work, I've travelled a bit - half a year in Spain, some time in Australia. But just like sleeping and loving, travelling is just something you can't do too much of. So now, that I've managed to scrap together a few savings and some spare time, I'm off to see the world.

I love to travel cities, to meet people, go out, have a drink - or a few - and just enjoy life wherever it takes me.

Oh, yeah, it says "All about you". So if it's of any importance to you: I'm a bit over 6ft tall / I don't smoke (anymore) / I wear boxers not briefs / I try to be a vegetarian and usually fail / I like "the daily show" / I dislike "bashing" anything, but sometimes I find myself doing it anyway / I like dogs more than cats - whatever that says about me / I use a Mac and won't go back / I'm a disaster when it comes to maths, crafts, games (video, board or otherwise), ironing, flirting, driving, surfing... / I'm a pretty good cook (you won't believe my tortilla!) /... I (apparantly) like writing about myself...so I'm gonna stop right there!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Right now I'm on the move. So I don't have a place of my own, for anyone to visit. But whenever I'm in town, I'd be happy to take anyone out for a pint (which in our case would be a Koelsch of course - Colognes own beer), show you how we Colognians spend our time, i.e. drink loads of Koelsch.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Shared flats all my adult life, never been to fond of hotels. I've done tons of internships all over Germany, where I stayed on people couches. Friends usually crash at my place, when they're in town.

Apart from the usual stuff (music, books) and work related stuff (media, politics), I'm into learning languages, although my busy job has more or less put an end to that. I still manage to do a little sport now and then, mostly jogging. Although I could (should) do some more - but who doesn't?
Other than that it's travelling and meeting people.

音乐、电影和书籍

I love the stuff that Luis Bunuel did - Staggeringly ahead of his time. But I also watched all of those stupid superhero movies this summer - and loved them. I'm not really into romantic movies but was really touched by Juno this spring - I'm probably just coming to that age, where things like kids and hard decisions start to matter...I don't know. What was the question?

Ah music...Anything good really. I'm probably not up to date, but anything from M.I.A. to Moldy Peaches, from Eels to NIN and back again. Listened to a lot of crazy stuff from Ween and Electric Six lately.

Books? "Die Blendung" ("Auto-da-Fé") by Elias Canetti has to be my alltime favourite. I only read books that I get handed from friends. Thomas Bernhard - genius! Other than that not much notable.

I have no pratical skills whatsoever. I'm fond of DIY and outdoor activities but also usually come close to losing a limb or two while doing either. I can't dance or sing, which doesn't stop me trying. Through my work as a journalist I've acquired a bit of knowledge on almost anything, but - and that's the beauty of the job - never gotten into deep i.e. never cared to read the footnotes.
