Overview
About Me
I’m James.
I’ve been in Boise for twenty years and love to share it with visitors. I’m pretty introverted but it doesn’t show.
Like to write short stories, barfly style, definitely a night owl. Vegetarian and liberal but not preachy. Have two shy cats. Love books, the Japanese TV show Gaki no Tsukai, conversations with sassy but considerate people. Burningman friendly.
My house is a safe space for anyone who comes through.
My philosophy of Couchsurfing is that I have the room so I should share and travelers are my tribe.
Caveats: sometimes too busy to hang out. Sometimes you’re on a schedule. Both are okay. 😀
I support equality for all, so won’t be a good fit for sexists, racists, LGBTQ phobics or anyone that supports the concept that one group is inherently better than another.
I will not tolerate antisemitism or Anti Palestinian sentiment. I believe deeply in a free Palestine. 🇵🇸
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love to meet new people.
I feel strongly that we should share when we can and I have the space to put people up so I should. 😄
Would love to motorcycle around various countries and meet wonderful strangers.
Interests
Books, writing, playing sports with people who think it’s fun no matter who wins.
I play volleyball in the summer and handball as much as my body will tolerate. If you play (which probably means you’re from Ireland, SoCal, Japan or are related to a handball player) I can introduce you to the kindest people to chase a tiny blue ball you’ve ever met. Yard work and noodling on the ukulele.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Once lost in a Japanese forest I came across a tiny rock shrine, draped in red and clearly cared for. Up until that moment I was scared and unsure. From that moment I was filled with love for the person that hiked out to nowhere to respect their faith or their ancestors.
Teach, Learn, Share
All three are awesome. 😄
