Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I spread the word about CouchSurfing on my website and around message boards. Don't have a place of my own to offer right now, so not much else I can do! :-)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couchsurfed for the first time in Brisbane for Christmas 2006 and had a blast with kind, wonderful people... hope to do it again! :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy the work of movie directors Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Michel Gondry and Alejandro González Iñárritu, but also well-done fast-paced movies such as Moulin Rouge! and Matrix Reloaded. Can be a bit of a bookworm. Favorite books: Travels with Fortune (Christina Dodwell), Man's Search for Meaning (Viktor E. Frankl) and Memoirs of a Geisha (Arthur Golden). I used to be a fantasy fan, favorite series being late Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time. Also a gamer, favorite games including Shadow of the Colossus, Shenmue and a whole lot of RPG's.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spending 2 years traveling around Australia with my girlfriend has certainly been amazing. We have met many people and lived with a fair number of them, strangers who grew into friends. We roadtripped Tasmania and the coast of Queensland, sat on a misty riverbank at dawn to see shy platypuses swim, lived in an old coaster van for weeks, having a different view every night and co-existing side by side with our fellows wallabies and kangaroos ; we saw koalas decorate the trees of a lonely crater like furry, oversized fruits ; we worked in a stud for close to two months, taking care of magnificent horses. We lived on a private yacht for a week, sailing islands and sleeping on deck under a tarpaulin. All of this and so much more is what makes traveling so unique.
