ABOUT ME

My wife Sue and I are dropping out of the rat-race and selling all of our possessions, and buying a boat to sail around the world... We love company and conversation, travel and adventure.

I recently have been doing a lot of training in Newport RI (safety at sea, and 100-Ton captains license)

My two daughters Kate and Jess are now on their own adventures (in and post college) and we are on the hunt for the elusive "perfect" boat.

I am extremely handy, and can help with projects around the house.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

During my Newport training, I met a UK couple Barney and Diane. They bought a boat in 2008, and have been sailing the east coast of the USA during the summers. On their trip back south, we hosted them for a great evening of dinner, drinks, and sea-stories.

Interests

Travel to new, interesting places. The sensation of trying new food flavors. Experiencing and appreciating new cultures . Quiet time reading and relaxing. Problem solving, in renovating my home. The thrill and excitement of sailboat racing, and the relaxation of sailboat cruising. Driving a fast car on winding roads through scenic vistas... SCUBA diving, flying, and trying to deceive myself that I have musical talent by torturing my guitar.

I had a dream that I would not get into heaven if I had not read all the classics, so lots of typical HS literature: Hawthorne, Stevenson, Poe, Dumas, Darwin, Hemingway, Twain, Shakespeare...
