About Me

NEWBIE DISCLAIMER:
Yes, I’m new here! I’m not sure how I didn’t know of this site’s existence until now! However, a quick google search of my name will likely give you more information about me than I am comfortable with. I recently made a decision to change how I do business in such a way that I am still able to care for self, family, community and world. So, yes, I’m a newbie and I’m not well traveled YET, but I think you all would enjoy getting to know me.

CURRENT MISSION: to BE free and to be a blank slate for other to create! My current mantra is “I know who I am!”

I’m a loving mom and wife with a renewed desire to travel the world in an unconventional way. I am a real estate broker and instructor in 2 US states (Georgia and Florida). I have been in the real estate business for 13 years. My husband and I have been investing on a small scale for about 1 year. I am a motivational and transformational book junkie. I love reading and learning. I have a degree in Criminal Justice (legal track) and had a short stint in the district attorney’s office as a victim and witness advocate. I love to cook and try food from other cultures...at least once.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I learned about CS on YouTube. I pondered on how to travel the world in an unconventional way. I am obsessed with learning about how other people around the world live. When I’ve traveled in the past, I’ve gotten bored doing “touristy” activities. I am also humbled and inspired by the surfers on this website. It takes an amazing human being to take on hosting “strangers” in their homes. I think it’s high on the list of experiences as human beings.

I am also very serious about my growth and most of my travel includes some educational component. For example, I travel to go to classes and seminars. I can share what I’m learning with hosts.

Hosting: We have a co-housing arrangement with family and we have teens. There isn’t a free bed/couch. Our eldest will be leaving the nest soon. We will start hosting then.

Interests

I’m interested in the human experience of life. I’m interested in things that I don’t know that I don’t know. I enjoy fascination as a state of being.

SOLO TRAVEL:
It’s not typical of mothers and wives from “The South” in the United States to travel solo, but it’s 2018 and life is too short not to experience the world and the other human beings in it. Some of my travel will be solo and some will be with my husband only. When the kids travel with us, we are a total of 6 surfers. Our oldest son, doesn’t like to accompany us anymore, so maybe 5.

Along Came Polly is one of my favorite movies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I’m a PLANE SPOTTER!

Teach, Learn, Share

I’m well rounded and can teach/share my experiences as a wife, mom, Entreprenuer, and more. I’m also a mentor and am a great listener. I speak English and would like to relearn Spanish. I took 1 year each of Spanish and French as an undergraduate student. I recall more Spanish than French. I also want to learn to speak Portuguese and German.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share stories about life in the southern United States. I can share other personal experiences. I’m an “open book” I can share a cooked meal. Cooking is one of my hobbies. I can offer business coaching.
