About Me

Living in Amsterdam, born in Afghanistan. Short, but enough energy to make up for that. Love sarcasm and sober directness (that's my Dutch part) but also love talking about the beauties of everyday life and how we should appreciate this little gift we've got

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to get to know the 'real' Cuban, Colombian, Peruan, and so on, life. I believe the best way to do so is by getting to know locals. Not only the rich cultures and beautiful parts of life, also the struggles, politics and economy. And, of course, traveling on a looow budget, so couchsurfing makes that I can travel at all.

Interests

Writing, philosophy and (socio-political) history.

I'm an extremely curious person, so you'll probably end up giving me lectures on the history, politics, social problems, philosophy, culture, religions, and what else, of your country.

Well, I sound really boring now, don´t I? No worries, as much as I love philosophizing I really love love love biking (I´m Dutch..), hiking through beautiful mountains and camping in the middle of nowhere for some days, naked showers at cascadas, but also shaking that booty, drinking, making love, smiling, dancing again, talking about burbing and farting, petting cute dogs on the street, enjoying the wind through my hair, sand in my feet and sun on my face. So, when we walk the streets of your city together, you´ll probably see me smiling quite a bit, I tend to appreciate the little things in life.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Setting up a social enterprise when I was 19

Doing nothing ALL day in Cuba without feeling bad (for someone who normally aches when doing nothing, this was a great achievement)

Ayahuasca in Caracas, Venezuela. Can´t really tell how or what it was, guess we all have to experience it firsthand

Walking up Roraima in Venezuela, it makes you realize how powerful nature actually is and... well, it's a different planet. Oh and continuing camping in la Gran Sabana afterwards without no money (picking fruits from gardens and getting free vegetables from nice people along the way :) ) to wake up next to wonderful cascades and butterflies every day

O wait you said one thing?

What I Can Share with Hosts

English language, if needed! Looking for a Spanish speaking buddy to improve my Spanish, so if you're looking for the same (but then, English speaking of course), let me know!

I´ve also noticed during my travels that I´m good at promotion/ enterprise stuff, so if you´re working on a start-up, I might be able to help you with your enterprise. Personally I am especially interested in social enterprises. Trying to make this little home called planet Earth a better place for all of us
