I'm a South African who moved to the Netherlands in January 2015, I finished high school in November 2014 and did not want to jump right into a study at a university without expanding my horizon a bit first.
I am now involved in a cultural exchange program where I live and work at a host family being an au pair for two kids, age 2 and 6, the exchange program is only for twelve months,so in January I will be returning to SA and go to university, which I now, finally know what to study! Nature Management and animal rights.
I also really enjoy art and dancing, I feel that it is a great way of expression.
My year in the Netherlands has changed me in a positive way I like to believe, being independent and open and exposure to new, different people and cultures.
I love open minded people and in fact chose the Netherlands since I found it to be one of the more liberal countries.
The reason for me coming this year is to travel and see as much as I can, thus! :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Since I am an au pair and don't earn too much, this is a cheaper option, you meet new different people and also get a more local vibe.

I wouldn't say I'm too fussy with music, its all good except maybe not too into jazz,or I don't have the ear for it.
I mostly like rnb,indie and since recently techno since this is like a religion in Holland.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I decided to hitchhike to Barcelona Spain from Amsterdam in the past summer holiday, I carried a backpack half my weight and camped next to the highway in the South of France-it took 5 days in total :)
