About Me

ABOUT ME

Originally from Malaysia, I then moved to Melbourne, Australia for 10 years, lived in Kampala, Uganda for half a year in between and then suffered what I now call a quarter-life crisis during which I sold my car, rented out my home in comfy Oz and set off to travel the world for 12 months with my partner in crime. After that, I have settled (for now) in NYC but the adventures continue! Always been one for exploring new cultures and exciting experiences. The travel bug got me good in 2009 and I've been on the road for most of the time ever since.

PHILOSOPHY

Don't procrastinate fulfilling your dreams. They are too important. And who's to say you will still want the same things in the future?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm fairly new to the world of CS. I've only had a fair few experiences a year before in India and France and it's been a wonderful experience so I'm looking forward to further engage with CSers all over the world!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My travel buddy has been on CS for some time now but I haven't actually surfed or hosted until recently. After some really good experiences in Bangalore, Chennai, Paris and Lyon, I decided to jump on the bandwagon and here I am!

Interests

Travelling, obviously! I've been spending most of my time on the road since 2009 - To expand the mind, to explore the richness this world has to offer, to learn and challenge personal perspectives, to understand my role in this world :)

Diving - I've dived in Australia, Vanuatu, Egypt, Thailand and the Philippines and I'm an advanced diver. I'm crazy about the ocean and marine life.

Anything outdoorsy like hiking, kayaking, trail walking.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: zombie, time travel and world apocalypse movies really, really hit the spot and pretty much anything Tarantino touches

Music: techno, alternative rock and chill out in my room Modest Mouse, Interpol, Alt-J, Jonathan Boulet and anything from the 90's. And then pure EDM on the d-floor

Books: good writers > good stories so Sylvia Plath, some Paulo Coelho, a lot of Charles Bukowski

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Trekking the Annapurna Base Camp in November 2013 and then the Annapurna Circuit in May 2014 - an achievement if I do say so myself! Oh and diving in Vanuatu!

I also have accumulated a set of quirky but very useful travel tips over my time. Unfortunately, my culinary skills are very dubious
