Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To keep growing and stretching myself mentally and physically. To view the world and people less dualistically and simply live.
ABOUT ME
I am a liberal, eclectic dabbler in all life has to offer. Definitely Buddhist in orientation and daily practice: loving kindness, compassion and being as much as possible in the moment.
PHILOSOPHY
I embrace compassion for all living things.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Have enjoyed hosting a number of lovely, interesting people. Have not yet stayed anywhere myself.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Totally positive. Love learning about other people's lives and perspectives and sharing snippets of my own.
Interests
I read a lot, have a garden, do endless maintenance work on my 75 year old house, studied Veterinary Technology for two years off and on. I've done a lot, experienced a lot, thought a lot. Spent my childhood vacations traveling all the ports of Lake Michigan on my family's Matthews cabin cruiser. I am a Disaster volunteer for the Red Cross, love walking the beach here and in Port Aransas, TX in the winter, volunteer at the Animal Refuge Center there, enjoy art, music reading and the outdoors.

Music, Movies, and Books
My favorite book is maybe "Things Fall Apart" by Pema Chodron. It's kind of my daily meditation book.
Some music favorites:The Eagles Greatest Hits, Walter Piston's Quintet for Piano & Strings, Barber's Adagio, Copland, except too much of Fanfare for the Common Man and Hoedown, Erik Satie, Brahms Symphony 1 and Mahler's 4th, Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet, Janis Ian, Jane Oliver, Joni Mitchell, Baez, PP&M, Carole King, Bette Midler, Streisand, Soundtracks from A Man and a Woman, Out of Africa, and all the old Show tunes.
I like movies, just don't get to them very often, my old favorite is King of Hearts.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The sunsets over Lake Michigan at the end of my block are often awe-inspiring. Was proud of back-packing in the Monongahela National Forest in W Virginia. After living in Argentina for a year, it was amazing to return and see my country from a foreign perspective. Otherwise, life in every moment is pretty amazing.
