About Me

Hello!
My name is Tramond! I'm wrapping up my Master's degree in Geosciences at Penn State AND I LOVE to travel! I've been to more than 30 states, but only out of the country twice. My goal is to see every continent (Antarctica....!) and immerse myself in as much culture as I can. We're all so different, yet quite similar, which makes us all interesting.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm excited about the opportunities CS might open up for me! I've always loved traveling, but haven't had as much time to visit the places I want to see. Well, I'm finishing school -finally- and should have more time to do what I love! I enjoy meeting new people and allowing our differences and experiences to broaden my perspective on life. What better way to come across people with different backgrounds and from all walks of life than hosting a surfer or surfing myself?!

Interests

I love listening to music, watching and playing sports (baseball, football, basketball, and more recently soccer), meeting and learning about new people, and most outdoor activities (e.g. hiking, skiing, sitting on a beach doing nothing).

I am fascinated by technology, but I equally love being disconnected and enjoying my surroundings organically.

Most of all, I love to laugh and make people laugh. I don't think I'm that funny, but (mostly) everyone would disagree lol.

Music, Movies, and Books

I can listen to just about any music. My favorite genres are Hip Hop/Rap, R&B, Motown, PBR&B/Alternative R&B, but I'll dabble in Classical, Jazz, and some Rock every now and then. That's basically anything from Kendrick Lamar, to Earth Wind and Fire, to Alina Baraz, to Gucci Mane, to Amy Winehouse, to MGMT, you get the picture! If I can nod my head and tap my foot to it, I'm good!

I'm not THAT big into movies, but I love comedies and thrillers. I'm more into documentaries (war, science, earth, religion, etc).

Reading for me consists of scientific journals until I finish my thesis. It'll likely shift back to clicking random pages on Wikipedia and absorbing random facts after.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Almost drowned. Okay, not that amazing. I spent a few nights in the rainforests of Costa Rica setting up mist nets to catch birds and bats to quantify the diversity of species in the area. While panthers and venomous snakes lurked in the shadows.. Fun.

Also zip lined through said forest.

I snorkled over a coral reef in the Pacific.

I've carried out geophysical methods in platinum mines in South Africa.

Teach, Learn, Share

I think that the most important lessons that we can learn revolve around appreciating differences. The simplest way for that to happen is exposing yourself to new and different people.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm quite outgoing and open to all kinds of experiences, so I'm pretty much down for anything!
