About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Seeing the world, then sharing my experiences with my friends and family thorough my travel journals.

ABOUT ME

I am a friendly, but quiet, 65 year old male with a passion for seeing new places, and experiencing new and different cultures. I generally prefer to travel alone, and with a back-pack. I also prefer not to be too tied to a schedule, so that when I arrive at some place I really like, I can stay longer. I enjoy meeting new people. I hope to find places to play tennis on my meanderings, too. I don't smoke, and drink lightly. I like to see the "real world" more than I do the tourist sites.

PHILOSOPHY

There is only one race, the human race. Strangers are just friends I haven't met yet. Life is what we make it, and a good attitude really helps.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am relatively new to this community. I want to be more of a host, especially in my summer cabin in the small mountain town of Crestone, Colorado. Haven't hosted much lately as I don't seem to stay in one place long enough to get it all organized!!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Two great experiences while in Europe, one in Antwerp, Belgium and one in Cologne, Germany. Looking forward to more. Also, have hosted a bit here in New Mexico, including one man who is walking from coast to coast!

Interests

Travel, of course. Hiking, camping, tennis, eating. Meeting new people; making new friends.

Music, Movies, and Books

Not much into movies. American country music is my favorite....(like Willie Nelson) and I also appreciate folk music from around the world. I prefer to read non-fiction stories about travel experiences mostly.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2003, I walked 192 miles of the Colorado Trail. I was on the trail, sleeping in my own tent, for 23 days with only a rented pack-carrying llama for companionship. Me and the llama had a great time! I've also hiked on the English-Welsh border with friends, been involved with dolphin research on the Maranon River in Peru.

Countries I’ve Visited

China, India, Mexico, Mongolia, Peru

Countries I’ve Lived In

United States
