About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Restart my life in San Antonio
ABOUT ME
While I was raised in San Antonio, and am there now, I lived most of my life elsewhere. I taught high school in Los Angeles. I started the first hostel for foreign travelers in San Francisco in 1978. I developed software on classical music. I lived in Warsaw, Verona, and Barcelona, and have traveled a lot, though less now. I was recently divorced in Europe and returned to home base. I would be glad to provide someone a place to stay "on the road". I have a daughter (raised in Europe) who is in her first year at the Univ of Washington in Seattle.
PHILOSOPHY
Tread lightly on the planet. (Small is beautiful.) (Have a car, but use a bike for much transportation.)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I started the first hostel for foreign travelers in San Francisco, and lived 32 years with Europeans (in my hostel and in Europe). So foreign traveling and travelers are my comfort zone. I've hosted many nice people here in San Antonio, and since stayed with two of them in their homes in Europe.
Interests
World politics, raise awareness of the seriousness of climate change, write, enjoy friends new and old.

Music, Movies, and Books
Classical music and late '60s & 70's rock. My favorite film in the last year was "Wadjda" from Saudi Arabia.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Living many years with mostly Europeans in my San Francisco Guest House where 30 people lived together from 1 to 6 months, resulting in the formation of many lifelong friendships including some 20 marriages. My travels in the Communist countries of Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union in the 1970s and 80s was the most interesting for me.
Countries I’ve Lived In
Italy, Poland, Spain, United States
