ABOUT ME

I am physically active working out regularly at a club and playing competitive tennis . I am a big sister to a beautiful 14 year old girl.

I actively gave back by coaching girls and boys volleyball at both the elementary and high school for many years.
Presently I give back by teaching seniors how to swim for free. It is amazing to see their eyes and hear the excitement in their voice as they are learning for the first time.
I had run a club called Best Buddies for 5 years before I retired . It is a friendship based program for students with an intellectual disability and physical disability and partnering them up with other students in the school. They met weekly with their buddy for lunch and we go on monthly trips. We have 25 special needs students and 59 mainstream students. My dream came true on June 6, 2014 in which I organized a dinner with the help of my co-op students for 140 people. These special needs students do not have friends so we had the special needs students families for dinner to meet their child's new friends. It took 2 months of organizing getting the banks, grocery stores and local restaurants to donate. There were so many wonderful smiles. I was surprised and presented that evening with an award from The Civitan Organization as a non Civitan member for volunteering all these years for special needs students. My special needs students also did a presentation and had the audience in tears. The program is a win/win as the special needs students gain new friends and the students volunteering feel good about giving back and making a new friend.

I Volunteered in 2023 summer in Kenya on a medical mission for Mully's Children's foundation. Children were serviced first by dentists, optometrist, and medical doctors . It was then open up to the community and 700 people a day were serviced. So many smiling faces when they had new glasses, or had their infected teeth pulled out, and also when many saw a doctor for the first time.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I volunteered 2 months in 2003 in China (Shenzhen and taught students that did not speak English and I did not speak their language. I learned so much from them. In Summer of 2023 I volunteered in Kenya on a medical mission.
