About Me

Edited to Add -- (2015) -- This profile looked a lot better before CS revamped the site. Colors, sides & sections have changed and hyperlinks no longer work, so this profile looks a lot more obnoxious and wordy than it used to. I hope to edit it for the new site design soon! Thanks! -d- (ps: links are here:

Please READ THE COUCH INFO before sending your request!

Por favor, LEE O TRADUZCA LA INFORMACIӓN DEL SOFÁ ABAJO Y A LA IZQUIERDA! Si no entiendes ingles, me puedes escribir en Español.

Merci de bien vouloir LIRE O TRADUCIR LES INFOS de COUCH A LA GAUCHE Y AU-DESOUS avant de faire votre demande! Vous pouvez m'écrire en français si vous ne parlez pas anglais.

I don't want you to be disappointed staying here. *Please please please* read ALL the couch info and do #1-5.

If you don't follow these (admittedly annoying) steps, I will send a copy-paste denial. Otherwise, I will host you if I'm free!

2. Use my NAME (it's Dina!)

3. Please request LAST MINUTE. That means WITHIN 1 WEEK of your stay date, and for 2 NIGHTS MAX!

4. Use this sentence: "I understand I won't have a key."

5. Please tell me if you DO or DO NOT have a working cellphone and/or device with wifi. You will need to contact me when you are at the door via phone call, text, sms, whatsapp, skype, facebook message, etc.

Bonus: Is there anything YOU expect or need as a surfer? Let me know!

Are you NEW to Couchsurfing? No References? CLICK ME! I AM A LINK FOR NEW SURFERS ON HOW TO GET REFERENCES! Sorry, but I can't host surfers without references in my house, but we can meet for a coffee or a drink! Thanks for understanding!
An outsourced techie, I'm now officially a school social worker and spend my times interacting with little kids and fighting a giant bureaucracy. I like to play hard, but I relax even harder. I play tenor sax in a band, write a travel blog, make renegade fiber-art and shop at the Farmer’s Market. Love hiking, hockey, witty banter, not-black coffee in bed and the vibrancy of cities. I’ve traveled the world by myself, but get anxious going shopping. I *never* turn down sushi or the chance to go out for oysters.

I love to drink wine and speak to CS'ers in broken Spanish & French in my horrendous New York accent. I'm also a big fan of the dive bar on the corner, with 85 kinds of beer and 2 pinball machines.

What's the deal with all the rules? Well, I've been called a "princess" so I like to make my expectations clear, and really appreciate a considerate guest since my living space is pretty communal. I also get distracted and woken up easily, so I'm looking for respectful and quiet guests!

Gifts generally make me uncomfortable, so no need to bring anything! Seriously! If you really prefer not to come empty-handed, a bottle of wine, a 6-pack of beer, TOILET PAPER or flowers are always welcome (but not expected!) I also collect postcards, and can trace stories of my life from the cards sent to me over the years. The greatest gifts I've gotten from CS guests are the postcards sent from their next destination!

"He who goes once aroun the room is wiser yet than he who stands still."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I surf, host, participate in the message boards and organize small CS gatherings. I love that CS means different things for different people, and the conversations are fascinating.
