Traveling slowly through Southeast Asia, a bit of Europe, and hopefully parts of Africa.

ABOUT ME

I quit my job to travel the world for a year. I'll be volunteering at an NGO in Laos for 3 months and plan to travel throughout Southeast Asia before & after. Then off to Europe for a quick visit before heading down to Africa. This mix of traveling + volunteering is all part of my master plan to gain experience in the development sector in an attempt to land a job I'm passionate about when I'm ready to head home.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

At the moment, just surfing. But I like to live in super awesome cities (San Francisco, for example) so when I return to the States I'll be sure to host surfers as well.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Pretty new to couchsurfring! I've heard wonderful things from fellow travelers.

Trying to learn the language of whichever country I'm in – a few phrases at least!
Eating local foods – I'll try pretty much anything, so long as it's prepared well & I have a trusted local telling me I should try it. So far this had led me to eating a variety of insects, water buffalo skin, and a duck fetus (sorry little guy).

Music, Movies, and Books

Carrying books while traveling is a drag, yet I always seem to end up with at least 2 or 3 crammed in my bag. I really should buy a Kindle...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Rode my bike across the country (North America). From the Atlantic Ocean along the coast of Geoirgia to the Pacific Ocean along the coast of California. 3,300 miles, great calf muscles, and some serious tan lines. But that was 9 years ago at this point...so it's time for a new adventure :)
