I heard about Couchsurfing from hostel friends I made while in Thailand and gave it a try when backpacking Scandinavia and Central Europe the next summer. In a nutshell, I was floored by the generosity of strangers. Cheers to paying it forward!

Musik, Filme und Bücher

Musical tastes range from indie pop to folk to 70's rock. A few favorite films are The Godfather, Saving Private Ryan, Fast Times At Ridgemont High, and Age of Adaline. Also, I recommend The Great Gatsby and When Breath Becomes Air to everyone for reading.

Significant overlap with a list I keep of "amazingly stupid things I've done" but a few gems are:

- lap feeding a local bear outside a chocolate factory in Denpasar
- deciding to hike through a hail storm in shorts at Franconia Ridge
- sleeping overnight at an abandoned mental asylum in Amsterdam
- driving into Bosnia without service and got by on directions from hitchhikers
- skinny dipping across the Connecticut River into VT and streaking back to NH
- exploring a forbidden palace in Santorini and getting slapped by an angry Greek man
- road tripping across the entire Iberian Peninsula in a week
