About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Live well, eat well, love well. Like Kurt Vonnegut said: "We're all here to help each other get through this thing, whatever it is."

ABOUT ME

There are two things I really love: food and getting outside. I cook for a living, and I love farm work, so for me that is what a lot of my life and future revolve around. My other passions involve outdoor pursuits: skiing, primarily, but mountain biking, whitewater kayaking, rock climbing, and just being in the sun and the weather.

PHILOSOPHY

Aggressively pursue your own happiness, and do your best not to tread on that of others.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We were just on an Eastern European road trip, so most recently I've been surfing. However, now that we have settled in to Chicago I'm really excited to host people! Hopefully we can share some good laughs, stories, and if we are lucky maybe some wisdom.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Had lots of good ones, but the first one, couchsurfing in Salt Lake to then do a bunch of skiing, was one of the best.

Interests

Skiing, whitewater, food, learning languages (I shouldn't say that in the plural yet, since I haven't gotten past two), and meeting face to face new people and cultures. I love anything that stimulates my brain, especially reading and good conversation.

Music, Movies, and Books

All sorts of all of these things. Music: Dig on everything from Primus to Herbie Hancock. Particularly enjoy Muddy Waters, The Mars Volta, Don Caballero, and Billi Holiday, but mind myself with very strong infatuations all over the place. As far as books are concerned....The Great Gatsby and A Hundred Years of solitude have to top the list, along with East of Eden and Anna Karenina. I also love Harry Potter. And I mean love. right now trying to work through a bunch of classics. Movies: Love them as long as they make me laugh or think: Anchorman, Zoolander, Airplane, Big Fish, Forrest Gump, others.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Moving to Argentina, finding a job, perfecting my Spanish, and creating a whole new life in a new world was something I will hold with me forever. Still, nothing beats a pow turn.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm not really sure what this section is supposed to contain. Things I can teach you will generally revolve around cooking, though there's never one right way to do things, only the best way you know. Maybe that can be expanded into some greater philosophical revelation.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can offer up engaging conversation and a well-cooked meal. I have been an Airbnb host, and I've had people crashing on my couch for as long as I remember, so I understand what makes a good guest. More than anything, with me you will get my sense of adventure and a ton of very flexible opinions.
