About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To host an alien couchsurfer, remember, extraterrestrial species are people too... broadly speaking

ABOUT ME

I'm very outgoing, and love being in new places with new people; the opportunity to make connections, especially with people who have a very different life story than me is one of the finest spices that can be added to life. I grew up under the tutelage of a pair of educators, economists, and was drawn to the world of design. I am interested in politics, though as I've aged I've gotten less and less confident in the absolute truth of any political position, perhaps by the time I'm 40 I'll be incapable of making any decisions on that front. I am of course constantly fascinated by architecture, modern and ancient alike, and am equally interested in urban design, I love exploring a city, discovering it's feel, and trying to understand the way that it's culture and it's physical manifestation are intertwined. I'm currently experiencing a burgeoning love of cooking, and it's being driven to new heights by visiting different countries with different cuisines.

PHILOSOPHY

I've found that people are, on the whole, good and fine individuals, and even when we are totally different, it's possible to find common ground and learn to be happy with one another. I come from a fairly limited background, and so I love to meet people that have had experiences that are completely removed from my own. I was brought up to love travelling, and to be fascinated by and respectful of other cultures. I strive to be happy and comfortable with the twists and turns of life, and I really really enjoy acting on whims.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've travelled through Europe and stayed with people, and in the process made some really great friends, and had some unparalleled experiences. I hope to be able to host some people now. Though until I move back to the city I'm not sure how many requests I'll be getting...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

The last night I stayed in Vienna, I went to a party (on a wednesday night, lucky me) I got dressed, came out, and was told that it was a themed party, and it seemed that I'd already picked one (brit pop I think it was) the theme was Vienna steriotypes, and it turned out that the party was Austria themed. That night I: tried bloodwurst and liverwurst for the first time (loved them), stayed up all night singing songs in a circle, went to breakfast with 3 people I'd met at the party, found my way back to my hosts apartment in time to gather my stuff and get to the plane. Perfect last night.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Having long, late into the night conversations with people who've grown up differently than me. My roommate who was black, from a poor inner city neighborhood, and grew up religious and driven in a world that was so geographically close to me, and so culturally different. Or a Jordanian Palastinian who lived with us, discussing the nature of the middle east from a completely different perspective. Expanding my world by seeing through others eyes constantly amazes me.

Teach, Learn, Share

Well, I'm damn good at English
I can teach someone how to do Architectural Drawing
I've got better than average computer skills, and reside on the internet, so I know lots of fun tricks on that area.

I'd love to learn bits of just about any language
I'd like to learn how to ACTUALLY surf, not just couch surf, that comes naturally
I'd love to learn how to cook anything and everything
I want to learn to play the drums
I want to learn to do a backflip
I want to learn to beatbox
I was recently inspired to learn juggling/contact juggling
